Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Sucks to switch out Pagan on this exchange.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Well, Nieve looked good for one batter and pitches. That's encouraging.Come on, you've got to be kidding me that you can't put away a rrokie with a couple of games under his belt after having him 0-2.Nice double switch. Matthews hasn't hit crap all year and Pagan is playing well. Damn!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Wouldn't the better double-switch have been to bring Blanco into the game?[/quote:3q7cjnuv]Doesn't his slot lead off?
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Jeter's magic powers prevent the Mets from turning two.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 That Jeter always comes through when you need him ... except for when he doesn't.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Wouldn't the better double-switch have been to bring Blanco into the game?[/quote:mmy3clnl]Jerry would tell you that you only would have your "emergency catcher" if Blanco gets hurt.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Wright owes me for that double-clutch.(Oh, right, you made me a video. Never mind.)

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Wright becoming my least favorite Met. Hope he wins me back.

Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 One of those people was actually wearing a Matthews t-shirt.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 It's a Ford Escape.Rilly?!I love the parallel parking!Ohmygawd! It's DOING it!!
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 From tomorrow's Washington Post (emphasis added):The Nationals were forced to recover for a second time because of a puzzling defensive sequence from center fielder Nyjer Morgan, who also has been lacking at the plate. Morgan is batting .240 (6 for 25) over his last eight games, and he had been held out of the starting lineup twice in the past week. His miscue in the second game of this three-game interleague series simply amplified those recent struggles....Morgan leaped near the wall but could not make the catch, the ball bouncing off his glove. Thinking the ball had gone out of the park for a home run, Morgan slammed his glove to the ground in disgust, not realizing the play was still live. That's when Willingham, who had been yelling to Morgan that the ball was on the ground, came to his aid and threw to the infield. But by then it was too late. Scott already had scored, and Jones was in full sprint, crossing the plate without a play for an inside-the-park homer, the second allowed by the Nationals in four days. When Baltimore ended its half of the inning with a 4-2 advantage, Nationals fans booed loudly as Morgan ran off the field and into the dugout."My emotions got to me there because I knew I should have had the ball," Morgan said. "It's just one of those things where I let my emotions get to me out there, which I normally never do. It's just one of those plays where I thought the ball went over the fence."
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Nice job Frankie. Not your fault that the Yanx specialize* in hitting balls to shitty to be turned into DPs * (they do, I don't know how, but I swear they do).

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Stop this nonsense over double switches, all you need to know is that Jeter is the best player ever, if his team lose it won't be because of him.

But with either slot unlikely to come up (as long as they retain the lead) holding on to your final catcher probably is the safer move.
Piggiestomatoes Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Speaking of people needing an ass kicking...paging Mr. Reyes. Mr. Reyes.

I would keep the superior defender in the game (esp. with Blanco/Barajas essentially a wash defensively). Plus Matthews is, you know, a terrible hitter and all.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 I agree w/Gwreck. It's over-managing. With the lead, you should leave the superior defender in the game.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Of course, you can't pull Jose out now. You've already burned your emergency shortstop.Oh, and SIT THE FUCK DOWN, Lieutenant.
