Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Have fun. Have garlic fries!
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 And check out San Francisco's The Stinking Rose if you can!
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Yes, the garlic fries are no joke.Wash 'em down with a Gordon Biersch, while enjoying the homage to New York Giants history in the rotunda.
Guest LeiterWagnerFasterStrongr Guests Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 Seconded on both the rice bowl and the garlic fries.Biersch over Anchor, Doc?
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted July 14, 2010 Posted July 14, 2010 There's a Biersch brewpub a stones throw from the stadium, great for pre- and post-game libations.AT&T is so beautiful--mind you, I've not been to CitiField yet, but I can't imagine it better than this-- that I recommend it as a must-see... even for those who don't follow baseball. It really is spectacular. And it revitalized that part of the city like no one would have expected. 10 years now and the change is dramatic.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 I think that on the July 29th matinee Fboy and I are just going to drive down and buy tickets at the window when we get to Citi Field. That way I don't get bilked for $35 in handling fees, the way all of these resellers do, or pay $16 in eBay shipping fees for something that costs 41 cents to mail.Is there a handling fee when buying tickets at the gate? As long as I don't mind paying a little extra, to sit in the better seats, I figure that they aren't selling out these weekday matinees anyway and we'll have options. That's my plan.

I'd recommend checking mets.com just to verify that there are plenty seats available in the price range though. But definitely should be able to get a smattering of decent selection. I'd avoid LF outfield though, unless you're in the front couple of rows of the 400, 300 or 100 level sections. I just realized, is there no 200 level at Citi Field? Or is that like those crazy Delta level tickets no one can afford?
Guest themetfairy Guests Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 Also check Stub Hub for last minute deals - you can sometimes do really well that way.And make sure you come up to the Pepsi Porch to say hi to me!

CitiField can't match its location and aesthetics.Do they still have the carts where, if you bring back your plastic beer cup for reuse, you get a dollar knocked off your next beer? (I remember paying a buck for beers by the 7th inning the second-to-last time I went. I don't remember much else afterward.)

Why is this? Obstructed views? My bigger concern is being on the third base side, if I remember correctly, so that we're shaded and not baking in the direct sun for 3-4 hours.
Guest The Second Spitter Guests Posted July 16, 2010 Posted July 16, 2010 LF sucks -- obstructed views precisely.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Thinking that instead of the July 29th matinee, I may take Fboy to both the August 10th 7 PM game and the August 11th matinee also, with a stop in between at my parents' house for the night. That's a Wednesday-Thursday and I'm already taking that Monday-Tuesday off to go to Sesame Place. That's a long week right there, but Fboy told me is up for it (no surprise). I think he would like Citi Field even more at night.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 The Second Spitter wrote:LF sucks -- obstructed views precisely.LF infield seems fine, but as you start to bend around the foul pole it gets bad. certain parts of the promenade will obscure a good swatch of LF/CF. obviously if you're in the OF you won't be able to see the LF wall, but that's just how it goes. if you're in the lower sections, it's much like the loge. As you go about haflway back you won't be able to see pop flies or the scoreboard.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 Ended up getting some Stubhub tickets for 08/27/10 vs. the Astros. Promenade Section 424, Row 1.For those who have been to Citi before, how obstructed are my seats?

And we're doing the McFadden's thing on the 11th, so I'll definitely be there before the game - if you go that night, think about it. A ticket, appetizer, pre-game unlimited drinks (Fboy can have sodas) and a post-game drink coupon. Not a bad deal at all!Whether you do the McFadden's deal or not, hopefully we'll have a chance to say hi

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2010 Posted July 19, 2010 I figured with row one I couldn't go wrong, even if I needed to lean forward a bit. Thanks for the info!

But that's where you're wrong-- in the 500s, the view from the first row or two is obscured a bit by the "see-through" railings in the front of each section. You're golden, though. (And well within t-shirt cannon range, should you feel like decapitating a youngster or two to grab some flimsy blue-and-white cotton in shirt shape.)

I got confused because our hotel reservation in Philly is for August 8th/9th and we're driving home on the 10th, after day 2 at the park.I'll have to look into the McFadden deal, thanks MF.
Ceetar Grand Central Contributor Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I'll be at the game on Wednesday the 28th. yah, baseball!

Guest Kong76 Guests Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I'll come up after the 3rd and 6th and flip you over.

Chad ochoseis Old-Timey Member Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 Good chance I'll take the day off from work and go to that game too. I still have your cell # from the July 4 run where we didn't get together, so I'll give you a call if I'm there.
Guest Kong76 Guests Posted July 24, 2010 Posted July 24, 2010 I have Fm's number if it hasn't changed. We can stage a coupof the Pepsi Porch!
