Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 ... something to get all our pessimistic views and negative energy out.So today's assignment is to play add-a-verse with Leonard Cohen's 'Everybody Knows' using updated lyrics so as to bemoan to current NYM situation.I'll start and anyone can just add on to it as they see fit.Everybody knows that Delgados crippledeverybody knows that Jose is lameEverybody knows that the bench is ancientand everybody knows that Omars to blameEverybody knows bout the doc's malpracticeits a lock just like death and taxesthats how it goeswhen your season blows

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Did we really have to pick a song from 1988 that I don't know? Was this song even popular?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I don't know it either. At first I thought it was that old chestnut about how everyone knows that an ant can't move a rubber tree plant.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 ="Fman99"] Was this song even popular? Not really, it just happened to be the one that popped into my head.I think I was listening to talk-radio yappings about how "everybody knows" that the season is over [because we know more than the doctors do ... and that Reyes will never walk again ... or that Wright will get hit by a comet this morning ... or that Fred secretly wants the Mets to fail ... etc] and the "everybody knows" phrase planted itself in my head which led to the song. Plus, I knew that there are enough Leonard Cohen fans here to make it workable. Or maybe the idea sucks because I reached too far and the thread will quickly die a painful death, I'm OK with it either way. I suppose if I knew how to find and attach YouTube videos it might help but I didn't think of it.so while I'm here:Everybody knows that the pen is leakingeverybody knows Jerry bunts too muchEverybody knows Ollies just a head caseso dont go get your panties in a bunchEverybody knows its beyond discussionthat were due for another Church concussionand a broken noseas the DL grows

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Pump up the Volume. Not a very good movie. But 28% better than you probably think it is.
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Aren't there only two decent Christian Slater movies?'Heathers' and 'True Romance'
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Yup. I would put Pump Up the Volume in the decent category. Everything else is pretty much crap.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 (edited) Soupy --- like Tommy Boy and, I dunno, Ace Ventura the key is low expectations --- so rent it, but tell yourself we all told you it sucked. Edited June 5, 2009 by Guest
