Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 While researching for my monologue about innings pitched by starting pitchers in 2008, I discovered one intriguing little fact.Only one pitcher in 2008 pitched a nine-inning complete game against the Mets.So let's test your memory, and/or how closely you were paying attention.Who was that pitcher? Your only hints: It was in a winning effort and it wasn't a shutout.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I feel like it was either a former-Met, or a guy we had been linked to in rumors.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Wasn't it some rookie from the Nationals?edit: John Lannan, maybe? (I cheated to look at the Nationals roster, but didn't look at game results.)
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Author Posted February 18, 2009 Nope, it wasn't Lannan. And it wasn't a National.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Pitchers I remember us having big trouble with in '08:Ben Sheets (he outdueled Santana in a game in the first homestand of the year)Bronson ArroyoRandy WolfArroyo is my guess.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I wanna say Aaron Cook guy from the Rockies, no idea why.I like the Arroyo guess too
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 I think it was Arroyo.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Didn't Carlos Zambrano pitch a complete game against us early last year? I seem to recall him doing so.
