The Post says the Mets might be looking to trade Castro. I disagree. Give the starting job to Castro and ship out Schneider and his $5 million salary. I don't know if the Red Sox really wanted him earlier (it seems they might have, considering they gave more to Varitek, who is worse), but if that is true, then Omar truly is an idiot.

Castro hasn't been able to hold even a platoon job without repeated and extended injuries. We get on the Mets for not giving Castro more PT in which to express his powa but they've tried and tried.

I would take whatever I could get from Castro, run Cancel or whoever else we have out there when he's not available, then take that $5 million and use it where it would be more productive. Getting rid of Schneider puts us about halfway to Dunn or Abreu.

Besides all that Castro's sluggin' and battin' average were down last year, and I don't know given his injuries, fatness and age whether they're coming back I mean he's still somewhat useful but I'd prefer to churn my bench guys more frequently and get burned once in a while than to stick with guys getting older, less reliable and less productive down the line. Plus Castro is always a half-curse since to use him as a PH means carrying a shitty 3rd catcher anyway. I guess what I'm saying is, if we can gather in one RH hitter who's better than Castro we could trade him and not miss much of anything.
