metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 derek lowe just got $60M for 4 years from the braves. are you glad it wasn't us, or do you wish it was?
Guest mario25 Guests Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Too many years, too much money. I think Sheets and Wolf could be had for less.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'm less concerned with years and money than I am at having a stud at the top of the rotation. And Derek Lowe was the closest thing to that available. (Other than Sabathia, of course, but that's another story.)Oliver Perez may be dazzling, but he's also mediocre. I think we'll come to regret this.Is this team really going to be that much improved over last year? So far, anyway, I don't see it.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'm surprised I'm saying this cuz it's not my money and I don't concern myself with that side of the business (I think it's all out of wack) but:Not against getting him for four years but 4 for 60 mill is too much $$$.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Douche. Ollie, Wolf, or Garland could throw up some decent numbers in the #3 or #4 slot.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Lowe five years ago would've been great. Now he would just be the second coming of Tom Glavine. We dodged a bullet.

But they don't really actually know anything. Just a lot of chatter.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
