Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Go Big Pelf.Tonight's game is a little bigger than yesterday's.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Yeah. I think we have to at least win all of the Pelfrey/Perez/Santana starts.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Nothing like pumping up the offense with a .250 hitting 2nd baseman (.220 in August) with 1 extra base hit and 4 walks.Of course I'm only knocking Argenis Reyes because I, like Gary Cohen, am in the tank for Luis Castillo. Marching orders from SNY and Omar ... you know how it is.

TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 9-4 would be better...but at this point, I'll take one game at a time.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 8-5 will only be good enough if the Phillies go 7-5. And I think they'll do better than that. (Of course, if the Brewers go 7-5 or worse, then we'll still be okay.)What the Mets really need is a 10-3. And that's a pretty tall order, but it's doable.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 10-3? I'd sign up for 9-4 right now. I don't see them doing any better than that.

Why? Who knows, maybe he figures Hernandez and Darling should be the ones making comments, snarky or straight, about the performance of Met players, managers, coaches, etc and he has to be the koolaid drinker of the booth. He has changed drastically since his radio days, and not for the better.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 You know, Steve's not 100% wrong on that. Cohen has indeed gone downhill since the move to TV.That being said, any chance for a reasoned analysis of why goes out the door once the nonsense about having no journalistic integrity/verbal fellatio/etc. is put into play. You could make your point so much more effectively.
Guest KC Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I agree that Cohen has changed some, but I don't buy the 'he's joined thecompany line' crap. The booth is plenty critical of the Mets when it's war-ranted and it's been quite warranted.Verbal blow jobs? I watch almost every single game and Steve is so far offbase here it's pathetic. He must be confusing Cohen with Michael Kay who he probably sees much more of.My hope is that no one poster will turn each remaining IGT into a spittingcontest ... it's about the game, not one of us.
G-Fafif Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Could maybe 20 of us contribute 5% of our quads to form a new and healthier one for Damion Easley? Not only would the lineup look a lot better, but we'd save a lot of energy otherwise devoted to considering how badly Luis Castillo needs to be criticized.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Ben Grimm - "Yeah. I think we have to at least win all of the Pelfrey/Perez/Santana starts."They'll likely have to throw a lot of complete games to do that.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I can't say I listened to Gary a whole lot when he was on the radio but I would think that the SNY booth gets high marks for being objective. I know Mushnick was critical recently of Cohen in a column.Maybe now being with a few ex jocks the last few seasons has changed him , I don't know.I took FK's post above as him poking a little fun , taking the piss if you like.Let's
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 OK, I'm here, and I vow to stay for the entire game. And Jose a great stop.
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I think you meant to say "METS".
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 That was a tougher inning for Pelfrey than it should have been considering that no ball left the infield.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 RU kiddin me??? These guys cant hit Perez tonite??? They are gripping the bats too tight under pressure.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Pelfrey in control that inning.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 How about a nice 4 spot this inning...
A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I hope FHA loan chick's contract doesn't run as long as Guiseppi's did.
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 7 in a row for Perez?
Theoldmole Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Defense playing solid.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Defense is fine. But we've got 1 baserunner after 13 batters, or, looked at another way, 2 runs through 13 innings.
Guest mario25 Guests Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 THEY ALL OF A SUDDEN CANT HIT...THEY ARE REALLY AWFUL....WHY NOT PLAY MURPHY OCCASIONALLY?????
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I suppose with all the lefties the Mets have seen Murphy got a bit buried.....I am now officially worried.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Tatis looks like he might be injured badly...shoulder...
