Giles hit a cue-shot towards 3rd which skip-bounced past David to allow the go-ahead run in.

That would explain what "fielder's choice to left" means on GameCast.

Why do the Mets have to give up 6 HR in two games to probably the weakest offense in the league? Seriously? Come on. . . they're killing me here.

Because they hate us.

="seawolf17"]Well, we didn't need to call Kunz up from AA. Aaron Heilman could have done that.

no, heilman would have walked kuzmanoff infront of headley for a 2-run shot.

i dont care that kunz gave up the hr there, sometimes you get beat, just dont walk people infront of homers and you'll be ok

Don't sell me short, I spent three innings of commercial breaks searching for old Joe Pepitone porno spreads.

="Frayed Knot"]I'm with Gary/Ron here -- Put Castro in to PH and AReyes to PR

Down 2, with 2 outs at one on, you have to put up a guy with some pop, regardless of whether he's a lefty or a righty. If Castro isn't capable in Jerry's eyes, then it's incumbent on Omar to get someone that is. If Castro is capable, but Jerry wanted to keep it lefty/righty, then he's not as smart as he thinks he is.

I was out running and having the same thoughts. Then I thought: Gerut, Hairston. Giles. Where do we get off not trying to get any one of these guys, if only to have as a guy to use in that situation. We are punchless, hopeless, and Jerry's beginning to look like a guy I'd prefer not return next year.

I really thought they would come back tonight.

---

Took my folks to what'll probably be their last game at Shea. My father is a Tigers fan and my mother rooted for the Royals some, but they moved to New York before having kids.

Shea plays a large in my baseball upbringing: they of course took me to my first game there, and we'd continue to go at least once a year (sometimes more often). After about age 7, my dad suggested that I could just skip having a birthday party and instead take a couple of my friends to Shea with us to see a game, a tradition that continued for several years and fostered a deep friendship (and mutual love of the Mets) with one of my best friends.

At Shea, my dad taught me what to watch for at the game and how to appreciate the intracices of the matchups. He's the one who taught me how to get bargains from the scalpers (back in the crappy years) and how to keep score (something I still do at almost every game).

Looking back, I can't help but be grateful as to how well they raised me: they kept me from being a Yankees fan; they took me to the games from an early age, and taught me how to really love and apprecate it. Was nice to get one more in at Shea with them.

I may be in denial here, but I'm thinking Castro wasn't answering the bell tonight.

My better half has been advancing this theory for the past two weeks plus, convinced it is the cause of his recent struggles.

I'm significantly less skeptical of this theory than I was just a few days ago.
