Guest attgig Guests Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 http://www.heraldnet.com/article/20080617/SPORTS/623385744Seems like the new GM is going to shake things up a bit and cut him. He seems like the type of "veteran leadership" that Omar loves to have in the clubhouse...
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 The old "change of scenery"/"challenge" trade, anyone? I'd deal Delgado for Sexson.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Don't be crazy. They;re talking about releasing him.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 That would definitely be a challenge trade -- I just don't think it's one we'd come out ahead on.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 i wouldn't. the guy had a .295 OBP last year and is repeating that disgusting stat again this season. He hasn't been good since 2005 (he was decent in 2006, but not as good as Delgado was that same year.)Granted Delgado is 5 years older but he's still the better player (and always has been.) Delgado's contract is up at the end of the year, as is Sexson's, though Delgado is owed $2 million more in salary this year and a $4 million buyout (I don't see a buyout on Sexson but I don't know for sure.)
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 What I remember of Sexon is a lot of swings and misses but when he connected he hit long home runs.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Yeah, now that I look at actual stats, maybe not so much. I apologize, Carlos.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted June 18, 2008 Posted June 18, 2008 Then there's the animated version of the photo.

I think we could do better.I'm sure that guy will get 3, or 4 games like Aguila did. Then we'll get a good "clubhouse guy' like sexy, and push him back down to AAA.

smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted June 19, 2008 Posted June 19, 2008 Sexson just hasn't been any good for a while. If I had a reason to think the last year and a half wouldn't be indicative of how he'd hit if he came here, then maybe, but right now he looks completely finished.
