No managerial news.

Hang in there, Willie.

I wonder what time that meeting with the Wilpons was/is going to happen?

The Mets are going to have to release some kind of statement, I'd think, even if Willie is staying. I wouldn't think he'd just show up at Shea and go about his normal routine as if all this speculation hasn't been flying around.

Or maybe he will. Who knows?

(What time would Willie normally show up and first encounter the press on the day of a 7 p.m. game? I'd have to think it would be pretty soon now. If there's going to be a replacement for tonight's game, I guess it will come from the current coaching staff, if only on an interim basis.)

My current hunch is that Willie gets a warning, and continues for a while.

I've given up the ghost, let's get Oberkfell in here NOW!!!

Oberkfell managed an afternoon game in New Orleans against Albuquerque. I read the game notes to see if there was any reference to him not being there, but apparently he was.

He won't be managing the Mets in Queens tonight, but there's always tomorrow...

Yeah, oddly unsatisfying. They were acting like this was all about Willie's comments in the paper. Any question arising about who's in charge or what's the commitment was unsatisfyingly answered.

Omar did talk a little about changes to the team and said an encouraging thing or two about them being on the same page but it was all very vague and won't serve as the defnitive assurance anyone wanted I don't think.

The drama will just continue as before. It's like the Obama-Hillary race, it just goes on and on.

If the Mets lose the next four out of five, the drumbeat will continue.

I thought the whole conference was utter bullshit and I was hoping Willie would stand up and say " enough of this shit , take your job and shove it , I find this insulting ".

As noted above it was all very unsatisfying and I felt badly for Willie.

If the Mets lose the next one out of two, the drumbeat will continue. Heck, one out of three, probably.

Without a doubt, Omar Minaya should share the blame for the mess the Mets have become. I posted my views regarding htis yesterday in one of the multitude of what I term "Willie Watch" threads.
