Enjoying the start of a new season while updating my website, having a beer, and planning the day off tomorrow.

Braves wearing a new blue uni with blue numbers on back.

Milledge & Lo Duca haven't been heard from much but the Nats are leading 2-1 on 2 first inning runs. No Gotay sighting yet.

Odalis Perez is the opening day starter for Washington. How about that?

And the Braves tie it in the 9th when substitute closer Jon Rauch gives up a double - groundout - then passed ball (LoDuca) with two outs!!

No word on why Rauch and not usual closer Cordero.

I say it's time for Blastings (hitting 2nd in the inning) to be a hero.

Oh My. LoDuca PB allows the tying run to score with 2 out in the 9th. Rauch closing as Cordero is out with stiffness.

I'll never forget that a "good" play (making it look like he'd tagged a guy out at home) was the defining characteristic of his first game as a Met.

2-2, going to the bottom of the 9th.

Absolutly shocked to see him as the opening day starter, pitched pretty good for five innings, MLB.com sporting a new look for the new season.

Dear ESPN,

Please don't make Peter Gammons into a freaking sideline reporter.

Yeah it doesn't work for me, Gammons is not as fluid in his speech as I am sure he would like.

A whole lot of ESPN type experts picking the Braves this season.

The new Bravo unis look sharp.

Hudson picking up where he left off last year, pitching a dominating game and not getting a win.

George W. Bush calling the Chipper Jones home run made me throw up in my mouth a little.

From what I could see, it looks like DC has a lovely new ballpark.

Bush was in the booth? i'm kinda annoyed i missed that, he probably made the yankees' team sound coherent by comparison.

An entertaining game. I can only wish that the quality of SNY's HD coverage approached that of ESPN. Their games just look better on TV than any other network coverage out there.

Having said that, watching the Braves lose is always good viewing.

Not sure which talking head said it before the game so I'll paraphrase...

"You're going to win 60 games, you're going to lose 60 games. It's what you do with the other 42 that makes the season special."

Who writes this shit?

I was either Eric Young or Bush that said it , although you say it was said before the game so it wasn't Bush(I thought it was)

Bush was very jovial in the booth, joking with Morgan about how one of the great things about the game is that you don't have to be a giant to play "right Joe?".

Talking about T-Ball at the White House Morgan said yeah I've been there "Did Laura invite you Joe?"...."no your father did"...."Oh , well your invited now Joe"....

Told the story about Jeter telling him he better not bounce the ball here when he threw out the first pitch during the 2001 WS....all part of the Jeter legend.

HA! I've heard that cliche often through the years. It ranks right up there with "You got to take it one game at a time," "Baseball is a marathon, not a sprint," and "Pennants are not won in April."
