Happy Hearings Day

I wonder what Dan Duquette thinks about all this , would he feel vindicated in any way, should he. The guy was creamed for not signing Clemens, especially with the Cy Young awards that came.

I'd love to see the guy with the photos called before Congress so Clemens can call an 11 year old kid who was just happy to take pictures of ball players a liar.

No, he'll say: "I think the 11 year old kid misremembers taking the photo."

It was a family party during the daytime. Even McNamee does not even claim to have overheard the conversation. Why dig himself such a hole by saying he was never there? It is comical how poorly he and his attorney have handled this whole situation.

I do love how, before the hearing, the ardent Clemens supporters were going on and on about how that was exactly HOW one should react in this situation, rather than what Bonds has done, when in fact it really isn't the best way to go about claiming your innocence at all!

I haven't met any ardent Clemens supporters.

I think Steve's roundabout point is that Bonds was seen as guilty by many due to the fact that he theatened to, but never did sue, the authors for spreading those "lies" about him in their book and never really sought out the media to deny his use.
Clemens, on the other hand, did exactly what Bonds was critisized for NOT doing yet is still seen as guilty.

The problem with Roger's strategy is that if you're going to take that road you have to have the truth on your side in order for it to work -- especially when the news comes out this morning that lawyer Hardin now admits that ... well, maybe Roger WAS at that party.

That's mostly because you can't hear the blather on NYC sports radio. Specifically Michael Kay, though he changed his tune after the hearing, but some callers are actually still supporting Clemens!

Sad but true.

I'm surprised that Hardin didn't simply say that Rager had "misremembered".

Those comments after the article --- is that what it's like listening to the radio?

NYTimes:

A Congressional committee has taken the first steps toward asking the Department of Justice to start a criminal investigation into whether Roger Clemens committed perjury during testimony about performance-enhancing drugs, according to three lawyers with knowledge of the matter.

So Rog, how's that scorched earth strategy working out for ya so far?
