First poster names a jock, and the next one gives a gut impression regarding whether he ever juiced. You don't need to be 100% convinced he did or didn't, and you don't need to qualify your answer (though some may challenge you to).

After answering yes or no, the name a jock for the next guy to baselessly speculate on.

Nolan Ryan.

Yeah, dumb idea. I'm just suddenly tremendously curious about Ryan.

Don't think so about Ryan. Never thought about him when thinking about steroid guys. Maybe because he's just been away from the game for too long.

Jeff Kent.

I think he's guilty! GUILTY! GUILTY!

Remember how "remarkable" it was how he was pitching so effectively deep into his forties? How his fastball still had most or all of its juice?

It's not at all remarkable anymore.

Jose Canseco was a teammate.

Jose Canseco has another book coming out.

getting back to the game i'll say "No" to Jeff Kent and the next name is Brady Anderson.

yes, but kyle stopped.

i tend to think that ryan just doesn't want to get involved in commenting on other players like that, moreso than that he personally has anything to hide.

Nah. Not enough power. Maybe he used HGH that one season when he got hurt early in the year.

Ken Griffey Jr.

No, injuries are more freakish in nature rather than tweaks, or muscle falling clear off the bone the way they don't under "normal" conditions.

Speaking of which...

No.

This is kinda silly isn;t it?

Not really if you stop and consider the health (not the demon ones) issues Straw faced in his career. Yes he still is as chiseled as he was coming out of Crenshaw, but if you want to question Ryan, why not question Strawberry.

Speaking of why nots

A bit early, no? When was the first suspected/documented use of PEDs. I know amphetamines were rampant in the 1970's but I think anabolic steroids came about AFTER Reggie's days.

Fran Tarkenton's SNL appearance would beg to differ

Fran Tarkenton: Hi, I'm Fran Tarkenton. You know, it takes strength and stamina to play pro football. You need to replace lots of lost muscle tissue fast, and sometimes your metabolic system just can't pull it off alone. That's why I start each day with a big bowl of Sugar-Frosted Anabolic Steroids. This cereal is a delicious synthetic derivative of male hormones, and in one eight-ounce bowl I get more than my body would provide in three years.

Yes, it's silly.

It is important to note that Kirk Radomski didn't invent the shit. We knew they were all over the NFL and boxing and the Olympics before I graduated high school in 1985 --- heck, Ivan Drago was getting injected right there on screen in Rocky IV --- so we've got to assume a handfuld of users were out there in the eighties.

Straw had an awesome physique in his Yankee days.
