]Did anyone see the take out slide in the Phils last series vs the Mariners?

A double play grounder where Phils Ruiz took out M's Giles at 2nd base?
He deff broke up the DP and a runner scored.
After Giles cried a lil Ruiz was called for interference and the DP counted, and the run didnt score.

If U saw it, what did u think about it?

I thought it was a great take out slide and me and my brother ended up arguing about this.

That slide - nowhere near a slide really - wasn't even close to legit.
Ruiz is going to pay for that one each and every time he faces SD.

Mr.Met got escorted out by security in Philly on mascot night, fans were booing him while security had his arm twisted behind his back, what a shame.

I guess I dont know my baseball anymore.
Cause not only could he reach the base, he was able to reach the other side of it.
And at that point, it was his job to break up that DP.

And yea--I just realized, b4 i even read this, that it was the Pads and not the Ms.
But thats the thing about these Phils games i get--i dont really pay attention to em unless i hear some noise.
Its like a baseball nightlight i have on.

Okay--that was horrid-able.

Ill take the silence about by jinx remark to speak volumns to me.

If the worst happens here in Philly, I wont be able to live it down.
And Ill do anything/everything in my imaginary powers to support my Mets.

*lowers head and walks away.

;)

crap--here they are interviewing Chase, the last thing I wanted to see.
*hurls

Because, betwen the commitment they made and the lead they have, they'll do what they can to redeem him, and that's the way it goes.

Take it easy.

I don't see why we couldn't have sent Shitty-weis down to New Orleans like a month ago to work on his pitching. By now it's too late.

Oh, right, you're hell at making nicknames.

Not for nothing, but I thought batting Lawrence in the 5th (?) was a dumb risk at which we got lucky, and all the good it accidently did was un-done the following half-inning ...by leaving Lawrence in there.

I'm thinking Willie prolly figured that he'd give Lawrence every bit of rope he'd need to hang himself -- his best-case scenario for being employed tomorow was to take Sele's job -- but I think after that 0-2 HR to Burell I'd seen enough of Brian Lawrence and his 82-mph heater.

Anyway, jeez, I'd have shirley given a bat to Conine there and said, swing as hard as you can, chief.

Odd then that he ended up pinch hitting Conine and Milledge back to back after not pinch hitting when Lawrence knocked in the run.

It is nights like this one that make me happy that I couldn't see the game.

I actually thought the Mets had the night off until about 9 pm when I got an email from Scarlett Knight where she said she was at the game in Philly.

I told her about thinking the Mets had the night off and she wrote:

]They've been taking the night off, regardless of the game in progress

Truer words never been spoke.

Down to our last out. Fucking Bucknor should get canned.

I have as filthy a mouth as the next fellow, and that thing that has been floating on the intenet for years about the word fuck is hilarious. But this does not make IGTs fun. It might be prudent to get my recaps from mets.com on the days Valadius appears to be off his meds and in full teenage-angst mode (whatever his current age might be).

I could do with using less curse words myself...I'll keep that in mind.

From David Lennon's blog on Newsday,I watched this movie at least a dozen times when I was younger....nut zoo kau..something like that.

Bloodied but unbowed in the NL East

blood.jpegAfter last night's 9-2 loss to the Phillies, Orlando Hernandez was the first one to get his hands on the remote control for the two hanging TVs in the near-empty visitors clubhouse. Apparently, El Duque was uninterested in Pedro Martinez's start for St. Lucie because he only watched a few pitches before settling on the Jean-Claude Van Damme vehicle, "Bloodsport."

Most onlookers recognized Van Damme, but few could place the movie, until Paul Lo Duca wandered out of the trainer's room, peered up at the screen and yelled, "Bloodsport!"

Van Damme -- Frank Dux in the movie -- took a few kicks to the face, a punch or two to the solar plexus and even had some grainy substance thrown into his eyes, which had a blinding effect. In other words, it was only a little more heated than Monday's interactions between David Wright and plate umpire CB Bucknor.

But Wright managed to restrain himself until the end of the eighth inning, when he finally was ejected. It was indicative of the team-wide frustration from a loss the Mets need to get past quick. With three more games against the Phillies, followed by three in Atlanta, this is no time for the Mets to slip into a funk. As Lo Duca said before Monday's game, the slogan for this week should be, "No Mercy."nomercy.jpg

That's a movie, too, only with Richard Gere and Kim Basinger. Perhaps the Mets should stick with Van Damme for motivational purposes.

All movies with Richard Gere should be called No Mercy.

From the game...

First trip to Citzens Bank Park. Nicely done. Saw the Bull serving up some ribs. YYYBBB. You've seen one new ballpark, you've seen them all. Went with 7 Phils fans...obviously they're rooting for the home team but not obnoxious like the yahoos all around us. A few buses made the trip from Queens and those Mets fans were a dozen rows behind, keeping security on their toes. Good conversationlists mainly. At one point, turned around and saw Diamond Dad and ScarletKnight41 three rows behind me. Went back for a visit. Good to see some familiar faces FROM THE HOT AS HELL PICNIC.

Like I always say, behave yourself at the ball yard because you never know
who is sitting three rows behind you.
