Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I figure to start this while I can:RamirezDeAzaCabreraWillinghamRossWoodTreanorAmezegaVandenHurk -- sounds like a Dutch superhero.ReyesGotayBeltranWrightDelgadoAlouGreenCastroPerezI'd like to teach Gotay to play RF and Milledge to play 2B.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I hate this team. I can't remember ever being more disgruntled with a first-place Mets team. Suck suck suck. I have no confidence that they will win today.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I've never even been gruntled with this group.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 We saw Vandenhurk in April. As I recall he had some great looking stuff but was so inconsistant with anything other than the fastball that we eventually started smacking him around and he was pulled after throwing a million pitches in just four innings.Of course we were actually hitting back them.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Vandenhurk started and won the Futures Game in SF this summer during the All Star Break. (And this was after having made several starts for the Fish. ) He's a native of Holland-- played, I believe, on their national team, skippered by former MFY Robert Eenhorn.I always wondered why their was a rush to sign Japanese players (Hideki Irabu, in particular) after Ichiro's success. Was there a similar rush to sign Dutch players after Bert Blyleven's success? Anyway, Vandenhurk is supposed to be a keeper.
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Nice of Jeff Wilpon to get dressed up for the Glavine ceremony.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I'm as pleased as the next guy over Glavine's round number achievements but seems to me this was an event that, you know, deserves a domestic beer or something. Not this. Not while his team is in the dumps.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 It's a bizzare tribute,Glavine looks embarrassed, way over the top IMO.Gretzky saying that Glavine might have been the missing piece in the Kings 1993 Stanley Cup bid was fun.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Ahh for fucks sake now Seaver is to speak...
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I thought they were going to do all this BEFORE game time. I coulda wentout for brunch or something. Mrs. Glavine and Mrs. Glavine need to checkwith each other next big event they attend together (or if they did they need to stop).
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I don't understand why this couldn't be done between 12:30 and 1. I enjoyed the fans booing Bobby Cox.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Lotta cash and prizes for 58 wins in 4.5 years.Jesus. Leadoff HR.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Ramirez couldn't wait to get started either, huh?
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 I am stunned: my son and I are seeing Glavine at RFK this Friday and I thought it would be cool if he wore a "Glavine 300" shirt.. they're aren't sold on the website! The Mets have actually not taken advantage of a chance to make money.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Have one made ya cheap bastard.

Strange.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 i was annoyed at the whole big half hour ceremony thing.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 To save the IGT from being a total bitchfest:3 Run for Alou.3-1 Good Guys
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Freakin' Alou hits a three run KABLERAM and the kvetching continues ...
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Kiner on a Sunday, a Sunday, a Sunday. That would be so good.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Throw was on target enough that Castro should have stayed home.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 This inning sucks. Missing a fly by 13 feet. Wow.
Guest Kid Carsey Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Inning could have been a lot worse, and I think it was only six or seven feet looking at the replay.Yanks are winning, *lick*, *lick*, *lick* ...And REYES GOES YARD TO TIE IT!!!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 12, 2007 Posted August 12, 2007 Two catchers broken at once. Getting scary. And DiFelice, pulling a big-league pitch for the first time in a decade, breaks the auxialry clock with a long foul drive.I wonder if the Mets will ever bother fixing it.
