Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I hope so. He's moving it around, though.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Yea..he would chew on it between pitches. If he has fears of comebackers I guess that a good thing.Mota takes the mound in the 6th with the Mets down 3-2.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 He wore the mouthguard last year too, it's because of a jaw problem he has. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Temporomandibular_joint_disorder
bmfc1 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Manuel certainly is from the LaRussa school of overmanaging. The locals didn't like that move.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Come on. How can we not steal back a run here?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Ugh--Heilman allows a homer to Victorino.Ugh.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 That Shane Victorino makes me sick, Jane.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 ="Edgy DC"]Not your day, Aaron. No its not.Have you ever had this little thing in your ear that........
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 radio guys say Castro just kissed Gotay on the "kiss cam" thing... LOLi'm off to a wedding, get your rally caps on!
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 9thDelgado draws a walk to open the inning.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 In another era, Zagurski would be nicknamed "Babe."
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 I wanted to see Gomez get a crack at this guy.

Val has a much sweeter swing fro the other side.Green grounds out. Delgado on 2nd.Alfonseca in to close it for the Phils.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 Hey-Im very happy with the series.Took 3 of 4, a really nice offensive surge.Atlanta is currently losing to Fla., 4-1 one in the 7th.The Sosa injury is distressing, but these things happen.(I never knew how often until I started playing Fantasy Baseball). No matter how u slice it up I think we need another starting arm in any case, for down the stretch. And if Pedro comes back and is effective...we...could...go..all..the..way!
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted July 1, 2007 Posted July 1, 2007 The "kiss cam" was funny -- the Phils were alternating shots of Male/Female couples in Phillies gear with shots of two Males who were clearly not a couple in Mets gear sitting next to each other. At the end, they put Castro and Gotay on it, as they were watching from the dugout, and Castro tried to kiss Gotay (who protested).Julio Franco looked terrible by not busting it down to first at the end of the game. He might've still been out, even with the bobbled ball -- but the loafature is inexcusable, especially for someone who should be providing veteran leadership (as he doesn't provide much else).DPs killed us.Surprised that over the 4 game series Gotay didn't get a start anywhere. Can he possibly play left field?I like Citizens Bank Park but it has a major design flaw. The whole "Ashburn Alley" thing they have in the outfield is nice buy way too small. Plus, all the signature concessions are out there -- and only there. If the "Crab Fries" are the most popular item, wouldn't it make sense to have stands scattered throughout the park, and on the upper level as well? Same thing with the cheesesteaks. Makes no sense to have an incredibly long line there and jam up the whole area.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Yesterday was my second visit to Citizens Bank Park, and the first time I get there early enough to explore a bit before the game. I agree about Ashburn Alley. We got our lunch at Bull's BBQ. I got a tasty turkey sandwich, and my son got the ribs, which he devoured. (He was up at midnight last night puking up big chunks of pork, though. I hope the meat wasn't tainted.)All of the tables were full (some people were placing their food on the top of trash cans and using them as makeshift tables!) so we decided to take our lunches back to our seats, which were on the other side of the Alley. It was tough walking through the crowd while balancing a tray. The line for the crab fries was very long. I figured they were probably good but didn't want to stand on that line, especially while balancing a tray.It IS a nice park. It has the feel of a minor league park, and I mean that in a good way. Nice and open, and you're close to the action. Even though there's sometimes a roof over your head when you're moving through the concession areas, you never totally feel like you're "indoors." (Much different than the caverns of Shea Stadium.)As I've said before, my gripe about "the Bank" is its location, so far from Center City. But they did build a very nice stadium. I hope they do as nice a job with Citi Field.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Did he loaf? I thought he was just slow and running from the right side.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 From my seat in left field, when I saw Utley didn't field the ball cleanly, I had hopes of a safe call. Then the throw to first. Franco looked to be about two thirds of the way up the line when Howard caught the ball. I was surprised that Franco wasn't closer to the bag and thought that maybe he had stumbled or pulled a muscle or something. He wasn't where I expected him to be, but I can't say for sure that my expectations were reasonable.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 He jogged. I was listening on the radio and Howie Rose was clearly annoyed about that.He also mentioned that he thought Castro should be up there and not Franco.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Schoeneweis not only continued his perfect record on the road, but got his ERA below the Komiyama line.
Guest iramets Guests Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 If he loafed (which I think he did), there's no excuse for him, and if he was running full-out (which I don't think was possible--I'm six years older than Franco and in poor shape, and I believe I could have gotten as close to first as he got on that play), then there's no excuse for Willie to have put him in to bat, or for Omar to have put him on the roster. Take your pick. Someone didn't do his job there.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2007 Posted July 2, 2007 Whether he loafed or not has nothing to do with Willie's mistake. Putting him in to bat there is a mistake even if Franco busted it out of the box.One guy has 1 HR and a slugging percentage of .250. The other guy has 4 HR's and a slugging percentage of .478. Only a fool chooses the first guy.
