metirish Old-Timey Member Posted August 23, 2007 Author Posted August 23, 2007 As stupid as it sounds I'm sure there will be a certain amount of pressure to sign Posada, one of the Holy Trinity of home grown players that came through in the nineties.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 23, 2007 Posted August 23, 2007 Williams and Pettitte. Several churches were dedicated to them in the late nineties. Did one retiring unwillingly and the other being a returned prodigal soil them?

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Did we ever got confirmation that this was actual Mets gear?Seems like more of a sweatshirt than a jersey, and the font seems more heavy metal gothic than that of the Mets.
Farmer Ted Old-Timey Member Posted August 31, 2007 Posted August 31, 2007 Looks more like a Times Square souvenir hoody. Of course, it looks more MFY than Mets...no orange.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 Yanx' main competitors all get a chance to make up ground while they were in the midstof being two-hit by a DevilDog rookie ... and all of them blew it in agonizing fashion.- Detroit scores twice in the 9th to tie up Oakland ... then lose it on a walk-off hit in the 10th.A Piazza double led off the inning and his pinch-runner was singled in.- Boston goes into the 9th down by 4 to Baltimore. They score twice and put two on with just one out ... and Varitek hits into a game-ending DP- Seattle goes into the 9th down two to Toronto. So they load the bases with one out ... and then hit into a game-ending DPI hate them all.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted September 1, 2007 Posted September 1, 2007 that Seattle doubleplay was a great play, the anouncer even said "basehit" before immediately following it with "Noooo!!!!!", the secondbaseman made a diving stop and flipped to the SS under hand from the floor, he leaped over the runner to throw to first. not only was the anouncer too eager for the basehit, he also called "doubleplay" before the ball even left the shortstop's hand on the way to first

Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 The two teams chasing the Yankees in the wild card race, Seattle and Detroit, open a three-game series today. The best thing for those of us rooting for the Yankees to sit out October would be for one of the teams to sweep the other. I'm not sure which team would be best, but I'm inclined to root for the Tigers; I'm miffed at the Mariners for losing nine in a row and letting the Yankees overtake them. But if Seattle wins today, I'm going to want them to win on Saturday and Sunday too.At least the Yankees are playing a first place team. (The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim California) There's at least a somewhat reasonable chance that the wild card race will be tied when we wake up Monday morning.
