As stupid as it sounds I'm sure there will be a certain amount of pressure to sign Posada, one of the Holy Trinity of home grown players that came through in the nineties.

Williams and Pettitte. Several churches were dedicated to them in the late nineties. Did one retiring unwillingly and the other being a returned prodigal soil them?

Posada will be the top catcher in a free-agent market with the Mets shopping for catchers.

Posada joining the Mets will guarantee that his steroids tests come out positive.

Note: "guarantee" here is used for humorous effect and does not imply an actual guarantee.

Phone camera snaps Queens subway perv

A No. 7 train pervert who exposed himself to a 23-year-old wasn't smiling when the gutsy gal pulled out her cell phone and snapped his photo, cops said yesterday.

The woman was on her way home to Manhattan from Flushing, Queens, at 4:19 p.m. Sunday when she noticed that another passenger had unzipped his jeans and exposed himself, Sgt. Steven Grabiec said.

"He's not making any outward motion at all, doesn't look at her, doesn't say anything to her," Grabiec said.

She noticed the man partially hiding himself with a newspaper as they neared the Junction Blvd. stop and then calmly took out her cell phone to snap a photo before dialing 911 from the train, which was running aboveground, cops said.

The man got off at 82nd St. in Jackson Heights - three or four minutes after she first noticed him. He fled on foot, cops said.

The man was described as 5-feet-4 and 170 pounds. He waswearing a Yankees shirt. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).

The hard copy published the photo. Hilarous.

It basically shouts: subway perv = Yankee fan

It sure beats last year's angle of "Subway Perv" = "Edgy's relative"

Did we ever got confirmation that this was actual Mets gear?

Seems like more of a sweatshirt than a jersey, and the font seems more heavy metal gothic than that of the Mets.

Yanx' main competitors all get a chance to make up ground while they were in the midst
of being two-hit by a DevilDog rookie ... and all of them blew it in agonizing fashion.

- Detroit scores twice in the 9th to tie up Oakland ... then lose it on a walk-off hit in the 10th.
A Piazza double led off the inning and his pinch-runner was singled in.

- Boston goes into the 9th down by 4 to Baltimore.
They score twice and put two on with just one out ... and Varitek hits into a game-ending DP

- Seattle goes into the 9th down two to Toronto.
So they load the bases with one out ... and then hit into a game-ending DP

I hate them all.

that Seattle doubleplay was a great play, the anouncer even said "basehit" before immediately following it with "Noooo!!!!!", the secondbaseman made a diving stop and flipped to the SS under hand from the floor, he leaped over the runner to throw to first. not only was the anouncer too eager for the basehit, he also called "doubleplay" before the ball even left the shortstop's hand on the way to first

The two teams chasing the Yankees in the wild card race, Seattle and Detroit, open a three-game series today.

The best thing for those of us rooting for the Yankees to sit out October would be for one of the teams to sweep the other. I'm not sure which team would be best, but I'm inclined to root for the Tigers; I'm miffed at the Mariners for losing nine in a row and letting the Yankees overtake them.

But if Seattle wins today, I'm going to want them to win on Saturday and Sunday too.

At least the Yankees are playing a first place team. (The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim California) There's at least a somewhat reasonable chance that the wild card race will be tied when we wake up Monday morning.

We all gotta be Royals fans is what. If the MFYs lose 2 of 3 they will lose ground to one or the other of their pursuers.

Craig Brazell is like a bull kicking at the chute, still waiting to get into a game, and still waiting for his hat to change at mlb.com.

Go get 'em, Craigy Baby.
