Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Lookin' good*, thanks for the update**.*Except for David Wright and his failure to ditch the black. C'mon David. You're letting the team down here.*Also except for Brady Clark and Ramon Castro, who -- judging from those photos -- look like the image I have of guys who are doing 5-10 in the federal pen than.**Hopefully a new update needed soon with Duaner replacing Muniz.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 How many bad catchers do we need? And why is David Wright wearing a black hat?
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2008 Posted April 25, 2008 Why do Collazo and Muniz have the same picture?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Still no sign of Matt Wise. Per Marty Noble, he may be activated Wednesday with Smith sent down.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Or perhaps Bostick will replace Smith, and then Wise would replace Bostick. And then, maybe after the ten days are up, Smith could replace Sosa.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Gwreck wrote:Still no sign of Matt Wise. Per Marty Noble, he may be activated Wednesday with Smith sent down.Like Keith said yesterday , when it's a numbers game don't be the guy with options , is this best for the team?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Well, not for the short term, no, since Smith has been pitching better than Sosa. But if you take the position that Sosa is a guy worth keeping, then this move would allow them to do so, and they'd be better off in the long run.I wouldn't just toss Sosa away; he served them well for the most part last year. But I'm also not sure how much he has to offer in the future. But we'll have to see. I think Smith will be back, and sooner rather than later.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 I also think that unless he has a really good start tonight, Bostick could well replace Figueroa.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Yes. I don't think Figueroa's spot in the rotation is, or ought to be, all that secure.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 2, 2008 Posted June 2, 2008 Roster crunch time again.Pedro will be activated for his start tomorrow.Pelfrey and Muniz have options but neither has exactly pitched (recently at least) in a manner to warrant a demotion.Vargas and Heilman seem unlikely to clear waivers. My prediction: Muniz back on the Norfolk shuttle; Vargas to the 'pen.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Yep, that was confirmed on the WFAN update this morning.Later
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 3, 2008 Posted June 3, 2008 Not for nothing but I like this arrangement best. Pelfrey for his part has been receptive to working the pen, but I still have faith that one day he begins figuring it out more than not figuring it out and when that balance tips he's gonna be OK+.Vargas already looks like our best longman since Darren Oliver!

Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Possibly more movement here as the Mets apparently DFAed Abraham Nunez after Tuesday's game, no corresponding move yet. Source: Metsblog, no confirmation elsewhere.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 It was in the Snooze. Metsblog is not a source of info.
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 It strikes me that they still have only three real outfielders, with Tatis, Anderson, and Easley faking reguarly at a stadium near you. That's wrong. Good, you DFA'd Nuñez. Call up a flycatcher NOW!!!!
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Any news on when Pagan might return?Tatis should only play in the outfield when there are no other options available.

Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 And now Rubin sez they've called up Magilla Aguilla]Mets call up Zephyr slugger Chris AguilaFormer Marlin Chris Aguila is headed to New York, Surfing the Mets has learned. Hell replace Abraham Nunez, who was designated for assignment after Tuesday nights game.Aguila has been on a longball tear at Triple-A New Orleans. The 29-year-old outfielder, who was hitting .308 with 17 homers and 40 RBI as a Zephyr in 221 at-bats, has slugged eight homers in his last 11 games. Hes played nearly exclusively in left field for New Orleans. From 2004 through 06 as a Marlin, Aguila hit .234 with three homers and 16 RBI in 218 at-bats.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 So, does Aguila step in as the starting right fielder until Church returns?I figure, why not?
Guest AG/DC Guests Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 Brilliant. The turnaround begins today. He wore 7 with the Zephs. That's obviously out. Look for him to wear the same 3 he had with the Marlins. Hopefully he can get grandfathered in before it gets retired throughout baseball.
Guest John Cougar Lunchbucket Guests Posted June 11, 2008 Posted June 11, 2008 I wouldn;t doubt he gets the same 6 that went from Evans to Nunez.

I'll assume the corresponding move in New Orleans is the activation of Raul Gonzalez.Your 2008 MetsStarting PitchersMaineMartinezDon Cardwell Memorial Savvy Veteran Starter Roster SlotPelfreyPerezSantana
