Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Jeff Pearlman strikes back at the man who won't go away even though we all wish he would.http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=pearlman/061214&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab1pos1
Guest ABG Guests Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 My money's on Pearlman winning this little tete-a-tete. Don't pick a fight with a guy who buys bandwidth by the barrell.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Yup, sure, but he's allowed Rocker knock him a little off-balance here. He's damn close to losing journalistic perspective and Rocker has successfully reframed the argument from the facts of the story to Pearlman's biases.
Guest cooby Guests Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Nothing wrong with getting angry at racism, but if this guy doesn't toe the line, he's going to start sounding just like Rocker in reverse.BTW, I wouldn't know Jeff Perlman if he moved in next door, so he's not so famous as he thinks.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 B-b-b-but Rocker loves kittens!
soupcan Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 It's a big deal that Rocker took some guy's Twisted Sister disc?
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 (edited) ]B-b-b-but Rocker loves kittens! Only when they're properly cooked. Edited December 14, 2006 by Guest
Guest KC Guests Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Does anyone here, a group of people who constantly read sports stuff online, think of John Rocker anytime you see something about him or by him. I mean,I don't play hoops with the guy, but I'd be more worried about him dribbling pastme than thinking about a seven year old SI article on John Rocker. Seems to me the tatoo is on the inside of his forehead.

A Boy Named Seo Old-Timey Member Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 I'm sure within his profession, Pearlman probably is known as "The Rocker Article Guy", but I'm sure none of those basketball guys would've known who he was had his friend not said anything. As for the CD, the admin of the school should've said, "No, ass, you can't have the Twisted Sister CD", but a look at the bigger picture, I think, reveals that Rocker did the school and the kids a favor by removing it.

Well, here's something I've been holding back for years! Brace yourself, its a bombshell - Rocker stole a cd!"
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 i'm not saying peralman did the righ thing or the wrong thing here, i'm just saying that i intrpreted that story as "Rocker is a jerk who doesnt care about the kids"
RealityChuck Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 That was my take. It also shows a rather childish "gimme" attitude and sense of entitlement: if Rocker wants something, he expects you give it to him.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 It is a little afterschoolspecialy, especially at the end, but I think the issue was put best above: It's a shame he allowed Rocker to reframe the argument to be about his integrity when by his actions Rocker proves the article was right all along: He's a hate-filled buffoon.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 I love Leitch's interview technique]And you two met when she was interviewing you? Because I want to make it clear that I'm not hitting on either one of you.Yeah, all of her questions were, "Do you have a girlfriend?" "Would you like my number?" I just looked down her shirt, saw what I needed to see and moved on. (Laughs.) I took a leap of faith, because she had a long coat on, and she could have had big birthin' hips or something.I see.But I found her, and here we are. The hips are fine.Yes. Want another drink?Yes please. Also, what's Rocker got against birthin' hips?
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Deadspin Interview with RockerI don't doubt that Pearlman will prevail should this deteriorate into a war of words between he and Rocker. In a battle of wits, Rocker is pretty much an unarmed man.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 15, 2006 Posted December 15, 2006 Yeah, but, he had already one. Rocker has become an irrelvancy desperately searching for a platform, and Pearlman the Part Time Pooler allowing him to force a response to his bleating in the wilderness, will end up giving Rocker a platform --- his choice of platforms.Rocker's had a good day, his first good one in a while professionally.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted December 16, 2006 Posted December 16, 2006 Good point. Best to let Rocker fade away into obscurity.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted December 17, 2006 Posted December 17, 2006 I love "The Bad Guys Won"...but I'm very unimpressed with both the writing-style (or whatever you call it) in that book, the article posted here, and the other stuff Pearlman has written.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 "Rocker's book is due out in 2008."I didn't think it would take that long to release a book written in crayon.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 I'm thinking the chick he's using for cover is wondering how she's going to stay with him that long.
