I full well plan on a grand range of razz on Mazz until he shows me otherwise.
I thought he was annoying as a pretty boy on the Mets when I was in high
school while the Yanks were rattlin' off titles. Then he goes and not just be-
comes one, but an annoying one at that later in life. Booo, Yanks don't want
me so I'll go over there again is the way I see it.

Mazz was the only good thing in a dark time. He was a local boy made good, our lone all-star rep (i remember that opposite field homer he hit to win the A-S game). I forgave him his stylin' and matinee looks, cuz he seemed basically well meaning. A great centerfielder (albeit a weak arm), who hit .300 with some pop and speed. And when we traded him, we got 2 important pitchers (terrell and darling). And then we got him back in time to participate in the 86 championship team.

He took a job with the MFY? Yeah, so what? Its not like the Mets were dying to keep him. I don't blame a guy for trying to make a living.

He's back now.

I'm happy about it.

Earlier today on the Mike & the Mad Dog Show, WFAN reported that Chris Cotter who was the Mets pre-game and post-game reporter for the Mets during the 2006 season, has been replaced by Kevin Burkhardt who frequently does the 20/20 updates on WFAN. There is no word on whether or not Cotter will re-sign with SNY with a different role for 2007 or if he was fired.

I read today that Chris Cotter will be in the studio doing work for SNY,that's what he was hired for in the first place,I remember Gary Cohen mentioning that early last season.

Probably a good career move for Cotter. He got everyone to recognize him but is smart enough not to remain a clown his whole career.

I can do w/o sideline reports entirely, but CC did aight, I have to say.

He did. At first I thought he brought nothing to the table, but by season's end I was able to see some value in what he did.

But after I read his name in this thread it took me a while to remember who he was. Actually, until Johnny mentioned sideline reporting, I thought we were talking about the fat guy who did sports for Imus.

Cotter dressed up as a sausage in Milwaukee and ran the race. He didn't win but it was pretty funny. It was tough to top that one. Dare I say he jumped the shark in Milwaukee much like the Fonz.

If the Red Bulls do exit MSG, it would put a further hole in the network's summer programming, unless, of course, MSG is considering using replays of this scintillating Knicks season to revive its summer schedule. Anyway, why would the Red Bulls want to leave MSG? There probably are a few reasons. One likely is promotion. On SNY, the Red Bulls could count on receiving major hype during Mets telecasts. This would provide the Red Bulls with more traction than having upcoming games and telecasts promoted on reruns of MSG's "50 Greatest Moments" series. Then there's SNY's comprehensive sports news operation, which the Red Bulls would also benefit from. If the Bulls split, they would not be the first franchise to cross over to SNY. Of course, the Mets did it when SNY was created. The latest MSG defection came when Lou DiBella took his "Broadway Boxing" series to SNY.

Anyone see the "UltimetMoments" thing SNY has been running? Chris Cotter hosted, and they did an hour-long season in review highlight show...which completely omitted the playoffs.

Then, they did a half-hour "UltimetMoments - Long Balls" of homerun highlights. Of course, in their comprehensive review of homers, they neglected to acknolwedge Matsui's three-seasons-in-a-row of leading off his season with a homer. I know he's gone and all, but it woulda been approrpriate to show it. Besides, it was one of the two inside-the-parkers we had this year. (Personally, I was hoping they would show the two triples that Jose Valentin got thrown out at home trying to stretch into homers...but no dice).
