Newsday reports that with Floyd out, the Mets are asking about Green.

He's apparently cleared waivers and so can be traded at any time. He does hold a no-trade clause which prevents him from being dealt to anywhere except the So-Cal teams - but those can often be negotiated.
He's owed $9.5mil for next year plus a $2mil buyout in lieu of whatever his '08 contract calls for. Mets supposedly want the Snakes to pick up at least half of the '07 money plus the buyout for '08.
No word on what the D'Backs would want in return.

I've always liked Green...even after his decline. Much better option than Millegde in my opinion.

Supposedly good friends with Delgado...and I would imagine LoDuca can vouch for him, so the move probably wouldn't disrupt the clubhouse.

I'm concerned that would make the team too lefty-heavy going forward. Its an ok move for this year, since we have no idea how much Cliff will be able to contribute. But Green's game has declined recently, and I would prefer getting a righty hitter for next year.

With Arizona only 1.5 games out in the West would they really want to move Green?

The supposedly have a lot of prospects ready for the majors, and may be wishing to open up a spot for one of them. Green isn't exactly burnin' it up.
And the fact that thyy're still in the race makes me think they wouldn't want prospects back - maybe an experienced starter like Traschell?

Jenkins, like Green, has a contract for next year, meaning you'd want the other club to get a bit creative before you'd even consider that one.
He's apparently been benched in Milwaukee leading to the speculation that he'd be available.

Preston Wilson is another new consideration. He's on only a 1-year contract and has been DFA'd by the Astros. He'll almost surely be traded somewhere in the next 10 days.

I've always had a soft spot for Shawn Green - I wouldn't be unhappy if he were to join the Mets (so long as we didn't have to give up anything major for him).

Preston Wilson is being cut loose by Houston. There's no forward commitment other than a team option following this year.

IIRC Wilson has always hit well at Shea, and the Mets could use an experienced righty hitting outfielder. I don't know how he'd feel coming here now that Mookie isn't in the organization any more. But he's certainly worth a shot.

You can make trades up til the final day of the season (Bosox & Mike Stanton last year) but a player who's not on the roster by Aug 31 is not eligible for post-season play.

Reggie Sanders: Plan B?

]The word around baseball is that outfielder Reggie Sanders cleared waivers earlier this month but pitcher Mark Redman did not. Teams are prohibited from openly discussing the matter. If true, it means the Royals can trade Sanders, 38, to any team over the season�s remaining weeks. The Mets are believed to have some interest if they fail to pry Shawn Green from Arizona.

I'd rather not. There is nothing Sanders can offer the Mets that Preston Wilson couldn't, and Wilson would have come cheaper in both the wallet and farm system.

I'd like for them to replace Ledee or Tucker with a more capable hitter, but Reggie seems to have lost his power while posting a K/BB ratio similar to Milledge's, plus he'd be under contract for $5 million next year.

Good point. I referenced Wilson more to make a point that it would be seem unlikely for the Mets to go after Sanders, but my context was all screwy.

$8-$9M/yr for a .280 / 20hr / 80rbi /.825 OPS RFer is pretty steep. Still, i'd rather have him than Ricky Ledee, and if he doesn't cost us much in actual prospects, its okay with me.
