Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted December 8, 2006 Posted December 8, 2006 Signed for Two Years $5 Million, Added to 40, 12/7Relief PitchersMotaI guess I'll leave Burgos off the projected roster for now as there's nobody currently in the bullpen with options. (Indeed, only two guys on the roster have them.) It's certainly possible that Padilla could clear waivers and open in the minors, though, or even get a re-hab assignment.Starting PitchersGlavineO. The "Vasquez" is Jorge Vasquez, who saw some time with Kansas City in 2004 and Atlanta in 2005, and spent last season toiling in AA for Ptitsburgh.Willie Collazo did fine as an old AA starter for Binghamton last season, but it didn't translate so well at Norfolk, where he put up a 4.79 ERA in 41 innings.Clint Nageotte has been struggling to establish himself in Seattle for three years. He seeks to become the Mets first Clint since Hurdle.Chip Ambres is a former speed prospect with decent power and strong plate discipline who has been stung by the injury bug the last few years. It's to be seen if his leg injuries have hurt his speed. His arm is considered to be poor.Starting PitchersGlavineO. HernandezMainePerezWilliams

Guest patona314 Guests Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 why are you listing williams as a starter?
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 It's just a projection.Given that Williams was re-signed and Pelfrey, Soler and Humber all have options, it seems most likely -- as of today -- that Williams will start the year as the number 5 starter.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Williams and Perez closed the season in the rotation.Pelfrey and/or Humber may well take that from them beforet he season starts. But each may get a little more seasoning.Duaner, by the way, got himself an $850,000 contract with a $100,000 incentive clause.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 And he's a virtual doppelganger for Steve Trachsel, which is scary.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 You think so? I guess we know why Trachs doesn't smile much.

MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 17, 2007 Posted January 17, 2007 Even with the addition of Schoenweiss, I'm still not sure that Adkins will replace Williams on the 25 man squad. Yes, Adkins has better stuff, and has 2 years under his belt. But to Willie Randolph, it seems that youngsters are as unloved as the top newspaper in the pile at the newsstand. He seems to prefer veterans.Later

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 I either had forgotten or had never known that Delgado had offseason surgery.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 Seems to me he was one of 5 (?) along with Pedro, Duaner, LoDuca and Heilman.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Humber might make the team as a releiver/spot starter. I think Pelfrey only cracks the roster as a full-time starter, though.
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 i don't think they carry Humber, either, unless he wins the 5th SP slot. I would think they'd want both those guys to pitch every 5th day.
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 I think I read that Sosa signed a contract that guarantees him a spot on the 25 man roster. Can anyone confirm that?Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted January 24, 2007 Posted January 24, 2007 Well, no contract is going to guarantee someone's spot on the roster --- what you may have heard is that he has a deal which allows him to refuse assignment to the minors if he doesn't make the 25 out of ST or if they try to send him down later on.IOW, he' may have pledged marriage to the Mets for better but not for worse.
