Jason Jacome is getting a lot of UMDB hits today, probably thanks to Alay Soler.

In 1994, Jacome pitched a shutout in his second major league start.

Somebody must have mentioned that somewhere.

Anyway, Soler is the 69th Mets pitcher to get a complete game shutout. Tom Seaver's all-time record is safe. I can't imagine any future pitchers getting 44 shutouts.

Wasn't Jacome part American Indian?

Not likely. He's way behind Jacome. He's also behind Wright, Darling, and Seaver.

It would be his second win. Jacome had a win on September 11, 2005. (I have no explanation for that one.) He has a pretty solid lead today, but he's not a shoo-in.

They added that the last Met rookie righty to throw complete game shutout (is there any other kind?) was Gooden.

I had no memory of this guy at all, so I looked him up. Thank for the great resourse, Yancy!

I was surpised that I couldn't remember him at all then I saw that the Mets were 55-58 in 1994. That was a bad, bad year for baseball.

Hence why I probably remembered the Gooden connection as well. Also in Gooden's final 7 starts as a Met he went 3-4 while in Jacome's first 8 he went 4-3

That is where the comparisons of the two end.

I'm pretty sure MLB would love to pull a Men In Black memory wipe as well.

Hell remebering it screws up the Braves "consecutive" Divisional Title streak. They were in the Wild Card slot at the time of the strike though, but the Expos were leading the NL East at the time!

I guess MLB had to recognize the Yankees and Expos as having the best record in their leagues as a procedural thing for the 1995 All Star Game, no playoffs and World Series, no managers! So thats how Buck Showalter and Felipe Alou managed the 1995 All Star Game.

But it still throws a wrench in the "streak" of the Braves. Does it really matter? No I guess not, but it is a nit pick.

And Ron Darling spoils Jason Jacome's big day with a late surge. I'll bet when he was on the air during the SNY telecast he made sure not to mention Jason Jacome at all.

Being in the Mets broadcast booth is a great way to generate UMDB hits. I don't know why people like to Google the broadcasters, but Keith and Ron have been doing great this year. It's almost as good as getting arrested.

(Maybe it's because of the MLB.com and MLB Extra Innings telecasts into out-of-market areas. Viewers may wonder, "Who's this Ron Darling guy who's doing the Diamondbacks game?")

Jay Payton is also doing rather well. I hope it's because he's been playing well lately.
