Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 ]Honestly though, would you want the first one of "those things" be done by an ex-Brave?I'm thinking of holding that double over you head.Honestly, we're all former something-or-other. Let Braves fans gnash their teeth if a longtime Brave gives us his best. Thanks for the ride there for a few innings, Tom.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 ugh--and the shutouts gone.Okay--settle down Tom and get back in the groove.

Probably put a poll up.I mean MFY Fans didn't feel any disgust that Gooden got a no-hitter as a Yankee or that Roger Clemens started the final game of the 1999 World Series
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 ="Edgy DC"]It's nice to know Julio Franco has a glove. They had to get him a new one; this is the one he brought to spring training this year:
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 UGH what a catch by Abercrombie....or as Pinella calls him, Abercrombuhgh
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Wright lets another ball eat him up.Well, that was a shot.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Why does Rose keep talking about Glavine making it to the 6th inning every game as if its a great accomplishment? Are the standards so low that its ok if the bullpen only needs to be taxed for 3 innings each start instead of 4-5? Personally I wouldn't start bragging about durability unless a starter is consistently going 7+ innings with multiple complete games.

Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Kaz legs one out to lead off the 8th.Infield single.Just move him over Tom.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I like this Glavine kid. Gonna be a helluva pitcher someday.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Would Pinella, as a manager, REALLY pull a hit and run here, on a hot day like this with his 40 yr old starting pitcher into the 8th inning? He says he would consider it- eyeeeeeeeecurumba.Glavine bunts Kaz over.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Hey, someone give Cliff Floyd some back spasms so he can start hitting too.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Damn---Matsui had him on the butt, but he still should have stayed with that tag.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Everybody hits today except Nady and Manny Acta.I think the thing Rose is on about with going six is that it means he hasn't had a drubbing, not that six=good, but a big part of pitching is avoiding badness.I'd like to hear where Glavine's "streak" stands among the longest in Met history. Get some context, as such.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 First Reyes GiDP of the year - and it keeps us from seeing Petit in from the pen. This game really hit a wall round about the 6th inning. The first 5 were done in barely an hour. The last 4 have taken nearly two.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 I think my problem is:If he's saying Glavine greatly improved in this area over previous seasons with the Mets, well, yes I agree. If he's saying Glavine ain't doing bad for an old guy, ok I can buy that.ButIt really sounded to me as if he was proclaiming this as a standard of excellence for starting pitchers, then I think the standards are far too low.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 This game has become much tougher than it ought to be.Put an end to it please.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 The Braves beat the Cubs. I just noticed their in 2nd place now as well. The Phillies are a tough opponent but somehow I like having them as a buffer between the Mets and Braves all the same.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted May 27, 2006 Posted May 27, 2006 Messier than it should have been ... but I'll take it.
