stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 Oh sure they are down by 4 right now in the 9th, but make no mistake, the Mets will be overtaken by the end of the week and the Phighting Phillies, the last non Braves team to win the NL East, will go on to win the East and the Mets will head towards yet another mediocre season, where they'll raise our hopes again in a futile push for the Wild Card come Labor Day weekend.Race is over, see you in 2007Oh by the way, what did that scoreboard say with 2 outs botom of the 10th Game 6 1986 WS? Just trying to get some Karma going in what has to be a loss worse than the two to the Phillies last week
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted May 20, 2006 Posted May 20, 2006 The sky is not falling. If you told me on 1 April that the Mets would be in first on 20 May, despite:Beltran missing significant timeWagner blowing 4 (?) saves2/5 of the starting rotation on the DLI'd be pretty damn surprised-- and happy.Let's get 'em tomorrow.NB-- this is not an apologia for WWSB-- he, not Billy the Kid, lost today's game.

nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 lets calm down, i know you all hate the yankees (i do too) but if this game had been against the Pirates you'd be over it the next time we won 3 in a row. And in the grand scheme of things the yankee series is one of the LEAST important of the year because our opponent is neither a division rival nor a potential wildcard rival.

Guest Bret Sabermetric Guests Posted May 21, 2006 Posted May 21, 2006 This loss hurts me so --just as someone who dislikes the Yankees intensely--that I can't imagine the pain of actually rooting for the Mets as well. How do you people take this? Do you ever think this whole thing(MLB) is a gigantic sham designed to torture you?

Those games over the Braves were our last consecutive wins, too. Since then, we're 4-8.Let's make it 5-8 tonight.
