You know what i'd like to see if the Mets don't score? Bottom 8th- Jorge Julio pitching to Barry Bonds with runners on. You want to earn our trust back? here's a big chance.

Alou has long been one of the great "hands" hitters in MLB. He has a knack for adjusting his hands during a swing - either pulling them in so as to not get jammed or otherwise correcting in mid-hack.
He would have had an even better career if not for at least 2 devastating injuries which wrecked 2 full seasons and pieces of others.

Bad game for Willie, though I didn't mind walking Bonds there.

The DP was in order and who runs slower than Bonds?

Until he starts playing like the Bonds we've seen the last few years i wouldnt worry about him as much as it seems Willie is.

Valentin up.

Because God forbid we should get our leadoff man aboard.

God decided to let Valentin get on, but not by any positive action on Valentin's part.

My mistake. Valentin reaches on a blistering ground ball that just ate up Neikro.

That was scored an error? Wow, tough call.

i might feel differently in a tie game, but already losing i think yo pitch to the guy.

Reyes fails to make contact, pretty disappointing for a guy with his speed who has a decent chance to reach on any ground ball.

Quick and dirty from the UMDB:In 55 games during Bobby Valentine's career, we intentionally walked Bonds 8 (eight) times.

Is that because he pisses on them?

I don't think there's any reason to think Bonds' average is indicative of who is up there. Nobody's throwing to him. He's had 36 at-bats, for Pete's sake, and how many of them do you think he was pitched around?

OE: and plenty of peeps are slower than Bonds.

Right now in SD, Mike Piazza is the tying run at the plate with 2 outs in the 9th inning of a 4-1 game...

Let's not forget the Art Howe era (ok, let's) but in 03-04, Bonds was walked 4 times in 12 games.

i don't know Zvon, in that same sentence the radio guys claimed that the Mets won a "big playoff game" here in 2000. The Mets, od course, did not play the Padres in the 2000 playoffs.

They did play the Giants in 2000.

For some reason I keep thinking we are in San Diego, probably because we just came from there and i had their game with the D-backs up on GameDay all night.

Every year, at some point, sometimes sooner, sometimes later, the Mets remind me not to get my hopes too high.

Naw -- tonight they lost at AT&T Park. I'm sure they lost some of those 21 at Pac Bell. And 3Com Park.
