Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 Whomever starts the IGT tonight needs to include "Sweet Child Of Mine" for good karma.
Guest OlerudOwned Guests Posted September 16, 2006 Posted September 16, 2006 I feel like the lack of clinching yesterday was partially because I didn't get this posted. But that's silly.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 Not a good sign: The magic number has put down a deposit on a two-bedroom condo in Dover.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I think Magic Number fears irrelevancy. I mean no one wants to be a zero and have no one talking about you anymore. Magic is just trying to hang on to it's last shred of glory. Can anyone talk to Magic and let it know just how happy it would make so many thousands of people if it were reduced to nothing?
stevejrogers Old-Timey Member Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 The Magic Number may be trying to fanagle its way back to Shea on Monday.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 It was way back on May 5 that I first calculated and posted the magic number on page one of this thread. At that point, the magic number was a robust 130.In the months since then, we've watched the magic number dwindle. We followed it around the country in the state-by-state countdown. We celebrated it in song, and with photos of Mets wearing the magic number on their uniform. But now the magic number is an old friend who has outstayed its welcome, and has become a bitter foe. We were prepared to bid it a fond good-bye on Friday night, but it refused to leave. Saturday and Sunday provided more of the same.Enough! Our patience is at its end! Now, the magic number must die! And it must die tonight! So let us gather our magic-number killing tools. Pitchforks and torches, of course. And silver bullets. And a wreath of garlic or two. And a stake to drive through its magic heart.I've come to realize that the magic that possesses this number is an evil one. An arcane black magic that must be purged and vanquished!Let our hands be steady and our aim be true!Let the magic number die TONIGHT!
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 At the very least, Magic Number 1 should realize that fish and houseguests stink after three days.
Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Let's call on a bunch of folks who can get rid of pesky magic/supernatural/alien entities:

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 18, 2006 Posted September 18, 2006 Magic number to clinch best record in baseball:
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 For 100 Wins, the Mets need to go: 9-4 (or better).
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 ="Willets Point"]Magic number to clinch best record in baseball:Best record in the National League is more significant; it would guarantee home field advantage in the NLCS.
TransMonk Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 The NL magic number is 3.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted September 19, 2006 Posted September 19, 2006 ]Best record in the National League is more significant; it would guarantee home field advantage in the NLCS.Well this one would take care of the other, but we can knock of NL first if you like.
