metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 yeah right now he is probably being ' re-educated' on all things Fidel...
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Ironically, Cuba has a shortage of lefties.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 It looks like Watanabe bounces the ball of the mound as he pitches.

Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Some great defense happening in this game. Ogasawara lays out to stop Enriquez's sharp grounder to right, then flips to Watanabe. Pedroso nailed Satozaki & Kawasaki despite picture-perfect drag bunts. Paret with a leap to rob Ichiro of a double. I'm missing a play or two by Enriquez, but damn do these guys have some chops.on edit: ah, that's right--Pedroso nailed Kawasaki on the drag bunt, but Enriquez got Kawasaki on HIS bunt. Good game. I'm totally rooting for Japan, but I'm glad Cuba's back in this.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Both teams can play , great to watch.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Why are they still showing the Roger Clemens WBC add?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Japan can't catch the ball right now....WOW
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Ichiro puts an end to that madness.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Just as you guys start to praise their defense ...
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I know, that was totally my bad. They're lucky they got out of that inning.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 2-run game now. Japan gets an insurance run.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 yeah tough play at the plate but the right call....
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 An amazing block by Pestano but an even more amazing slide by Kawasaki. I thought Pestano had him, but it looks like Kawasaki slid his hand in there. Crazy.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Miller & Morgan are suggesting Ichiro get WBC MVP. I disagree. Seung-Yeop Lee had an awesome tournament for the 6-1 Korean team.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Japan plates two more runners....9 to 5 Japan......
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Rats! I was hoping Cuba would have the tying runs on base in the bottom of the 9th, just for the drama.

Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Congratulations to Japan the first ever World Baseball Classic champion. What an awesome tournament.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 How fucking classy is that? Cuba coming out to shake the hands of the Japan team during their celebration.I love that. Great game, great tournament. Next spring is going to be awfully dull by comparison.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 Japanese pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka is WBC MVP.
