Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Steinbrenner stars in weepy tv movie.
nymr83 Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 you can ALWAYS hate the yankees.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Good for the kid, very cool of him.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Very kool of the old general.Yea, that kid has learned about karma at a young age.
Guest Rockin' Doc Guests Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Good of Steinbrenner to recognise the youngster's personal sacrifice. Good show by both of them.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Can't the Team Plane go down already
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Dude if the team plane went down who would we root against?, plus can you imagine all the freaking movies they would make about the MFY?...
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 irish, you have to get over hating the Yankees so much. You're embarrasing me. You make Bret look right.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 No I won't get over it, and I don't care who I embarrass and Bret is never right.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Ok...how does a 13 year old save $1,000? When I was thirteen I think the highest total I ever reached might have been, oh, $30 or so.Did newscarriers get a huge bump in pay? Has the going rate on lawn mowing/leave-raking spiked? What gives?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 This doesn't make me hate the Yankees any less.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Definitely from the tooth fairy.Or drug sales.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 ]Ok...how does a 13 year old save $1,000?Bar Mitzvah?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Bar Mitzvah? -- in Arkansas?
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Perhaps I'm too cynical...the $1,000.00 (kids never have $1,000.00, they have $827.42, they have $924.86, they NEVER have $1,000.00)...the way it conveniently found it's way to Steinbrenner's desk...if I had to guess, I would say it's more likely a publicity stunt than it is a feel-good story. And for the record, 83 is right. You can always hate the MFY's.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 A guess.Jews in Arkansas.Latest data I found shows .1% Jews in Arkansas as of 1990.By the way, you look for demographics related to Judaism on the internet, you'll find a lot of nasty shit. One hate site I stumbled across included the subtitle, "This is not a hate site." If you say so, Herr Goebbels.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Maybe I'm just selfish, but what idiot donates a grand to their school when they're 13? What a loser.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Who would you rather give a thousand dollars to? A non-profit organization, or George Steinbrenner? Hell, I started twitching when I bought $30 in Yankee Bucks for my MFY fan friend's 30th birthday.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Why not keep it? He's 13 years old._________________This post had the designation 65) Ron Hunt

metirish Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 ]And where's your Guns N' Roses set list?Elster is like way too busy complaining about stuff to make a list.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I'm not complaining. Just stating that normal 13 year olds spend their own money.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 My almost 13-year-old gave a portion of his Bar Mitzvah money to the American Jewish World Services. But it wasn't $1,000.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 I should clairfy, I don't think there's anything wrong with a kid donating money. But it sounds like this kid saved up $1,000, which I'm guessing took a while, and then just decided to give it all away.Keep it man. It's not your job to support your school. Throw them $25.
Guest KC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 So some silver spooned son of a ship builder who has a long history of beingan obnoxious ass who happens to own the most wretched team in the historyof organized sports is gonna let some kid who is dumb enough to part with fourfigures of hard saved dough come see the Yanks play and give him a jersey thatthey make in China for prolly $4 and I can't hate the Yankees?I don't think so.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Author Posted February 14, 2006 Much anger has this one.
Guest KC Guests Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 No need to single me out, there's plenty enough hostility on this board. Someof it truthfully blunt, and a lot it much more subtle.Trust me, I don't hate too many things -- but the MFY's are pretty close to the top of my "hate" list.
Elster88 Old-Timey Member Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Yo KC. Make your Natalie Portman pic smaller.
