Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Reyes at the plate. The Mets are wearing the space-age batting helmets.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Bad helmets. Bad.Reyes hits one about 390 to center. Flies out.Matsui would've hit a homer.
Guest Yancy Street Gang Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 ESPN still not carrying the game. They're showing a Duke basketball news conference.I can only imagine how pissed off I'd be if I didn't have Extra Innings. I hope that none of us has to rely on ESPN to see this game.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 LoDuca rolls out to third. Beltran pops to first. Livan is getting squeezed.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 A mini-rally (two walks) by Washington ends with Paul LoDuca showing more range behind the dish than I've seen from a Met since maybe John Stearns --- running about 45 feet up the first-base line to field a dribbler by Brian Schneider. He was close enough to underhand the ball to first, anyhow.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Damn, wicked curve by Hernandez --- never had much luck against the Mets by the way --- gets Delgado.Wright time.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Lets go Mets.....last year on opening day I stayed away from all things Mets so I could watch the game that night on replay, so a friend(MFY fan) calls me to ask if I knew how the game ended, of course I knew by his tone of voice something bad happened.......I begged him to tell me and he did.....shocked I was......so today I will try a different approach and change the Mets luck..
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Just remember that players who homer in their first at-bats as Mets usually end up sucking so Delgado striking out is auspicious. At least don't boo him until his 3d at-bat today.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 After two innings, no Met has ever reached base in the Hateful Helmet.I don't think I need say more, so do not ask me to.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 MLBTV just went to some old-skool WOR color static.
The Big O Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 The first hit of the game goes to Livan.Make of that what you will.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 If Fran Healy were still doing Mets games he'd be raving about Livan, he loved him a lot....
Vic Sage Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 1st hit of the year... single by Nady.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Xavier Nady gets a rare bad pitch from Livan and gets the first Mets hit of 2006.Welcome Anderson Hernandez. And he's swinging, moving the runner over to second, but grounding out.
Guest abogdan Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Great initial telecast SNY. I really wanted to watch the September 17, 1986 clincher against Chicago instead of opening day.

Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Glavine singles to right. Nady stops at third.
Guest cleonjones11 Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 SNY Power Truck hit...OPENING DAY GOOD GOD! THEY STILL SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Dang. Reyes hits a hard liner out to left, but Nady fails to tag.No biggie, as Soriano had good throwing position, and he likely would've been out.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Pitchers out-hitting hitters in this game so far.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 LoDuca serves a bloop to left center and the Mets take a lead.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 LoDuca hits a two-out flailer, Soriano makes no effort and it falls in. Mets 1, Nats 0.The SNY people are providing commentary because the production truck is still down. But at least we have a picture now. What a spectacular embarrassment.
smg58 Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Beltran grounds out as the sound comes back.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Yay! The first run of the year!Btw, I'm watching this on MLB.com Gameday - which is no way to watch a game - but sounds better than the troubles you're having.
