Valadius Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Author Posted September 2, 2005 At least we're going toe-to-toe.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Wow, Fran is never going to learn how to pronounce "Encarnacion" is he...
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Was that a botched hit and run play?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Consecutive one-out singles by Delgado, Encarnacion & LoDuca load the bases and Lowell hits a sac fly to give the Marlins the lead. Can we say, "We told you so" yet to Willie, or do we have to wait?
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 This 9-day rest isn't really working for Victor, nor us.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 what Im seein (Yahoo Statracker) is that Zamby gave it right back and the bases are loaded.2 outs tho.lets only give em the 1 Zam.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Zambrano hits Gonzalez to load the bases for Willis.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Zambrano's not getting hit hard, but he's sure getting hit often.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 3 singles and a sacand we give it right back.Could be worse. makes me wonderIf the Mets will use their lumber.okay......ill stop.My poems are a flop.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 He's limiting what damage you might expect given all the baserunners he'd seen, but all them pitches (73 thru 3!) will add up to an early KO.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Who grounds ou to second to end the inning.whew.73 pitches
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I would say that Zambrano is getting lucky, rather than crediting him with limiting the damage.10 of the 18 batters he's faced have reached. That's absolutely, staggeringly terrible. And he's been doing shit like this all season.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Trax is slated to start on Monday. He's not an option here.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Frayed Knot wrote:Trax is slated to start on Monday. He's not an option here.really.Didnt know that.Last I heard he was gonna throw a sim game.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Zambrano strikes out Pierre, then Castillo triples to center. If Zambrano gets out of this inning, I bet we see Padilla in there.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Fish dont plate that triple.Zambrano gets out of another fine mess.Heilmans up in the pen, and hes sched to bat, so thats probly it for him.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Trachs threw a simulated game last night, and apparently was pretty funny about it. Things like "I'm 16-0 in simulated games" and "I heard I was traded to the simulated Red Sox last week," etc.Cabrera grounded out, then Delgado flew out to left to strand Castillo at third.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Ive got to be reading this wrong.Must be a webglitch.Zambrano batted?with the tying run on 2nd?
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Diaz singles, then advances to second on a wild pitch. Castro grounds out to third, Zambrano strikes out, and it's up to Reyes again. I really, really, really don't get leaving Zambrano in there. He's at 85 pitches and has allowed almost three baserunners per inning. And Reyes grounds out to end it.Motherfucker, Willie, do you WANT to lose?
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 normally Id be okay with a move like that this early in the game, but Zamb has thrown 84 pitches thru 4 innings, and 'sounds' ineffective, even tho he's bailed himself out of jams a number of times now.And why have anyone up in the pen?
duan Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 of course Zambrano responds to being left in by cruising thorugh the 5th. Unfortunately so does Willis getting the mets 1,2,3 in about 10 pitches.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Well, for the first time today, Zambrano gets them 1-2-3. But we're still down by one.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 well, he 1-2-3rd em in the 5th.But instilling confidence in any one player can only go so far.If Zambrano blanks em for the rest of the game, win or lose Willie dont look too bad. And he rests the rests a bit. This is gonna be a long road trip vs the top teams.I believe you should play each game to win(at this point) with what you have right in front of you, like a guy on second and 1 out. But second guessing managers is easy from this seat.Im sure theres depth to his decision.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 Zambrano trotted back out there for the 6th at 95 pitches. There's a good idea.
duan Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 how'd willis double happen (good hit/bad fielding) and same question with the runscoring single. "ground ball" to Carlos Beltran reeks of "Miguel Cairo has no range"
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 ]If Zambrano blanks em for the rest of the game, win or lose Willie dont look too bad. And he rests the rests a bit. This is gonna be a long road trip vs the top teams. I totally agree, but we now have an extra three pitchers in our bullpen. If we're not going to use them, why carry them on the roster? And we've been struggling for so long to score runs, you've just GOT to try to get that run home.
Sandgnat Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 anybody else have a problem with them bringing the infield in there? I know they are having problems scoring runs, but its only the 6th. With the bases loaded and no outs, I'd rather see them try to get two and stop the potential big inning.
Guest Rotblatt Guests Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 I'm sorry but WIllie's a fucking moron. Zambrano gives up a single & a double after over 100 pitches and he leaves him in there to face the top of the order with no outs?It makes no sense at all.
Zvon Old-Timey Member Posted September 2, 2005 Posted September 2, 2005 of course, if Zambrano does stuff like give up a double to the opposing pitcher, Willie may have to address all the second guesses after the game. And what we have discussed here will be one of the 1st questions he will be asked.Hope he got a good answer.Pierre singles,.....that 3 in a row, tick, tack, toe.Mets down 3-1 and stickin with Zam was a damnscamwhamblamjamblahquestionable move.had to get 3 more innings out of him ,at least, to make passing on that oppotunity to score worth while.Heilman takes the helm.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
