Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 What about Baginski?"What about him?"Well, he's only hitting .027..."I think you have to give him time. The kid shows a lot of heart, plus his play in the field is much better."Does it have anything to do with the fact he bought the team?"Next question."I love this commercial. The scene where he's calling his shot as the pitch whizzes by floors me every time.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 Hey it could be worse, it could actually be accurate.I just recently found out that Jeff Wilpon was once a 5th (I believe) round pick by the Seattle Mariners.
Guest KC Guests Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 I hate to admit it, but the Aflacduck makes me laugh in the Chinese foodattempted delivery commercial.
Guest Johnny Dickshot Guests Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 I wish they'd just go back to the damn Foxwoods jingle. These others are so much more irritating.Actually, I wish Foxwoods would massively slash it's advertising budget.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 ]I hate to admit it, but the Aflacduck makes me laugh in the Chinese foodattempted delivery commercial.I LOVE that one. I was pointing it out to D-Dad the other night, who looked at me like I had three heads. But I love the part when he hears what they ordered.
Guest cooby Guests Posted June 17, 2005 Posted June 17, 2005 I don't understand the Ricoh Post-It notes ads at ALL
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 "other shortstops don't like children, or animals"brilliant!
Guest gnatman Guests Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I wish the Mets would please stop running the newsreel spoof "vote for Jose Reyes for All-Star" commercial. It's cheesy enough in a vacuum, but made even worse by the fact that he's got no business being the starting All-Star SS this year.
Guest ScarletKnight41 Guests Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 I agree - it's an awful commercial. Insulting to the intelligence of the viewer.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted June 24, 2005 Posted June 24, 2005 Plus, I always associate All-Star Game politic-ing as a 'small-town' thing.NYC used to consider itself above that sort of thinking.

Guest abogdan Guests Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 I posted this in IGT yesterday, but it's worth repeating: There aren't too many things funnier than Mr. Met whittling a giraffe.

I'm not sure when (or why) stadium operators got the idea that us morons in the seats would lose interest if we had to go a whole 30 or 40 seconds w/o being entertained. Jeez, we'd actually have to talk to the people we went to the game with or something.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 When my brother brought my Dad to the Garden last season, they had to leave at halftime, because the overstimulation was so offputting that the oldd man couldn't appreciate the basketball that took place in betwen the epic light sabre battles, or whatever else they were throwing at him. He's an old guy, but it's not like he's a sociophobe who can't stand noisy crowds. Heck, when he was a beat cop, crowd control was one of his favorite assignments. His BS meter just wouldn't stop ringing.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 26, 2005 Posted June 26, 2005 Well, I have to confess, it's pretty hard to deafen my old man any further than he already is.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 I guessed the Aflac duck right. Is that the voice of Gene Hackman on the Oppenheimer Funds commercial?
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted June 28, 2005 Posted June 28, 2005 Good call on Hackman, I've had the same thought a few times.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 29, 2005 Author Posted June 29, 2005 I think there's no question that it's Gene Hackman. What did you guess about the AFLAC duck?
Guest Spacemans Bong Guests Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Hackman does Oppenheimer Funds and Lowe's Home Improvement. If you don't know who the AFLAC duck is you're an idiot.
Guest Edgy DC Guests Posted June 29, 2005 Posted June 29, 2005 Easy, Bong. Some of us don't get out as much as we used to.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted August 17, 2005 Posted August 17, 2005 Why don't you tell your stupid ranch tooth to shut up?!?!
Guest cooby Guests Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 The new Willie/Torre Subway ads are cute
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2005 Posted August 19, 2005 That's your opinion.I'm not sure which I got sick of quicker, those, or the Costanza/Iacocca Chrysler ads.
Willets Point Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2005 Posted August 24, 2005 The 8-gazillion variations on the Foxwoods "psychiatrist-word association" ads are grating and annoying. I'll take the jingle any time, at least its melodic and catchy.

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted August 24, 2005 Author Posted August 24, 2005 Have you guys seen the Toyota of Manhattan commercial with the guy sitting at the desk screaming like an idiot? How does something like that get put on the air?
