Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 6 Posted June 6 The New York Mets, back in the hunt for fourth place (and 12th place league wide!) return to San Diego for a brutally late (10:10 PM New York time) start. The Only Nolan McLean is expected to start for the Mets with Griffin Canning going for San Diego. Canning was a 2025 Met, and had a surprisingly strong first half before rupturing his Achilles at the end of June. That ended his season, which may have retroactively been as much of a difference maker in the team's last-day elimination as anything. Griffin's post-recovery showing has been less stellar, and he brings an 0-and-4 record and a 7.16 ERA into the start. Brandon Glick 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 6 Posted June 6 There aren’t many games in this brutal stretch where the Mets will be favored to win. Tonight is one of those games.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Three Padres starters — Machado, Song, Fermin — batting under .200 this evening. If McLean takes care of business, Jackson Merrill could join them before the game is over.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Guys. It’s Griffin Canning. He has a 7+ ERA. Let’s treat him as such. meanwhile. McLean starts strong. Let’s hope he keeps it up.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Song doesn't seem to make up for that .437 OPS with extraordinary range, does he?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Baty and Ewing really want to do a double-steal here.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Nice to see Baty pick up Vientos there for the first Mets run. I would like to state that the swinging Padre logo is a top 5 "other team" mascot IMHO

I also want to throw props to this St. Louis Browns logo of an existentially heroic batter leaning back and swinging his bat defiantly at the whole damned sky. whippoorwill 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Someday Nolan McLean will realize he should not be walking guys hitting under .200
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 How is no one covering? This is one of those dumb mistakes Darling mentioned.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 The only hit in that seemingly neverending inning was off the cushion.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 But it was harmful because he walked a guy with a .458 OPS. He just can’t keep doing that. The Hot Corner 1
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Basestealing is atrocious this year. Centerfield 1

Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 Ok. It’s Griffin Canning. Enough fucking around. Let’s score 8
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Re-acquire Antoan Richardson. Or, on the other hand, be mindful running against Freddy Fermin.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 That wince by Bichette sure looks like the type of pain that could compromise a man on defense and at the plate (leading off the next inning).
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 That did not look good at all. Maybe it was a cramp?
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Also a good time for Soto to abandon his series strategy of turning over and grounding to second as often as possible.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 This guy is Randy Myers. That sort of heat from the left side is harsh.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 7 Author Posted June 7 Mendoza holding off on the hook and Semien swinging the bat puts McLean in a position to exit the game with a lead.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 7 Posted June 7 SEMIEN! I ALWAYS KNEW THAT GUY WOULD BE GOOD
