MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Tong vs some putz. C'mon, guys. The Empire State Building is more iconic than the Space Needle Chock Full O'Nuts is better than Starbucks New York Harbor is better than Puget Sound. The Mets have GOT to be better than the Mariners. LGM! Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 2 Posted June 2 Still no officially announced starter as far as I can see, so I imagine we are looking at Tong after an opener — which wasn't written to sound dirty, but now totally does. seawolf17 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 If you are looking for the Mets to try something/anything with the lineup to shake up Bo Bichette ... today isn't looking like your day. If you like waiting until game time to find out who your pitcher is, though, you're totally in luck. METS STARTING PITCHER: TBD Huascar Brazobán (RHP), 3-1, 1.86 ERA, 24 SO LINEUP: Carson Benge (L) RF Bo Bichette (R) SS Juan Soto (L) LF Jared Young (L) DH Mark Vientos (R) 1B Brett Baty (L) 3B Marcus Semien (R) 2B A.J. Ewing (L) CF Hayden Senger (R) C SEATTLE STARTING PITCHER: Logan Gilbert (RHP) 3-4, 3.69 ERA, 69 SO LINEUP: J.P. seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3 Posted June 3 I kinda love the idea of a surprise pitcher. WHO WILL IT BE?!? No one knows. (ESPN has Brazoban in the slot with 40 minutes to first pitch, so that seems likely.) The "opener" idea is as stupid as the Manfred Man, by the way. MFS62 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Marlins eked ahead of the Mets by a half game last night, and they're winning in the ninth tonight, but hey, they're beating the Nats, and the Mets have to catch both of them.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Gary and Murph doing the pre-game from The Pike Place Fish Market.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Gilbert grips the ball outside of his glove. You can pick up his pitches.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Just a terrible 0-2 pitch to Wisdom. Tong in already down 2-0. Runner on 2nd.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Ewing and Benge will not stand for their buddy pitching with a deficit.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Nothing makes me quite as happy as Ewing and Benge trotting around the bases.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Tong pitching with intense purpose is also a happy thing.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Staying on the theme of unforced errors, I’d love to hear the logic behind Young at DH and Vientos at 1B.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Doing an unusually large bit of testicle talk in the booth.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 But nothing is out of reach when Carson Benge is on the prowl.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Disappointing to see that Cionel Perez' beard isn't nearly as neat as it looks in his thumbnail photo.
Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 3 Posted June 3 Very atypically for me I was up for a bit of this one. Tuned in at 4-2 and watched Tong get taken yard and turned it right back off. Saw maybe 2 batters.

Tong was deceptively pretty good, but was nibbling himself into holes, ultimately finding the one he couldn't extricate himself from. There definitely was a guy there who needed to trust his stuff. Entering the game in a 2-0 hole probably had something to do with that.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
