Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 20 hours ago Posted 20 hours ago The Mets have outscored opponents 2-0 over the last five innings, and seek to keep that momentum going against red-hot Red righty Chase Burns. It should be David Peterson's turn in the rotation, but the Mets haven't announced a starter. Maybe they are holding him back for a day and looking to slip Jonah Tong — who threw three hitless innings on Friday — into the rotation. Mysteries abound. But the Mets seem to pride themselves on getting creative with rotation deployment. Hopefully, flu-ridden Juan Soto has gotten his fluids and is well enough to at least DH. AJ Minter is rumored to be ready to break the seal on his 2026 season. What he has will be in question, but he has shown he can compete with 91-92. But, you know ... rumors.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 9 hours ago Posted 9 hours ago If the Mets can run up the score Chase Burns out all the power to them
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted 8 hours ago Posted 8 hours ago I thought this team might be pulling out of its funk, but no... it was just getting started. Woof, what a colossal disappointment this season. Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago Roster moves: AJ Minter and Jared Young activated from the IL. Nick Morabito and Jonathan Pintaro optioned to AAA Tyrone Taylor to IL. Infielder Eric Wagaman added to roster/called up from Syracuse.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 3 hours ago Author Posted 3 hours ago The state of the nation isn't strong when the Mets are running Jared Young right out there and batting him third. Deploying AJ Ewing in the cleanup spot is also sub-optimal. Soto shed his flu, though — at least enough to DH. ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago I kinda like Jared Young here, it's not like the other guys are doing much. An OP$ of .600 is common in these parts Ewing is batting 4th. I mean seriously? I think Stearns in getting his analytics advice from Kenny Atkinson LGM
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 2 hours ago Author Posted 2 hours ago Yeah, Ewing leadoff and Benge cleanup makes more sense, but I'm sure Benge batting first looks like one of the few things that aren't broke in the Mets offense — if you squint really hard — so Mendoza doesn't want to mess with it.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago An overturned safe-out call got a bigger cheer from the home crowd than anything the Mets did yesterday. Radar 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago wow. I didn't expect that to be overturned. Probably was out, but it wasn't definitive to where I expected the Mets to win the challenge.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 1 hour ago Author Posted 1 hour ago Thank goodness for outs on the basepaths, or that first inning might never have ended.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Down 2-0 already, I'm shocked and dismayed
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Chase Burns strikes out the side in the first I couldn't write this shite up
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Peterson doesn't have it tonight. He either walks the hitters or they get a hit. Now down 2-0 with bases loaded, a weak ground ball to Peterson leads to a 1-2-3 DP. Now Peterson needs to close this inning out.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago Weak ground out to short and Peterson escapes a big jam. Now can the Mets put a ball in play against Burns?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted 51 minutes ago Posted 51 minutes ago On the bright side, David Peterson had a 2.50 mark in May before this start, and since April 19, it was a respectable 4.08.

His numbers will be a little less respectable after tonight. You could hang laundry on all the line drives the Reds have hit off Peterson today.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted 41 minutes ago Posted 41 minutes ago I've developed empathy for Carlos Mendoza. The Mets need to replace him now and look for some kind of a reset This Mets team playing now is about as bad as any Mets team ever including 1962 This has to be attended to Casey Stengel and MFS62 1 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 16 minutes ago Posted 16 minutes ago The Reds hit yet another rope against Peterson. He then fails to back up the play at the plate, which allows Stephenson to advance to third with no outs.
seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted 11 minutes ago Posted 11 minutes ago Crikey, this team is fucking awful.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted 9 minutes ago Author Posted 9 minutes ago Gosh, that's what the scoreboard looks like without zeros on it.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago Well, Soto is pretty good. Unfortunately, he is pretty much the Mets offense.
