MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted May 22 Posted May 22 I wonder if they'll start him immediately or ease him into the rotation. Later
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 22 Posted May 22 Nothing Tong with that, I was hoping Kimbrel could recapture the magic of old as he seemed to manage some of it last year with Houston. But alas, it wasn't to be. He still might latch on somewhere. Astoundingly, it's been nearly a decade since he had a couple great seasons in a row. From 2010 to 2018, he had a 1.91 ERA and 212 ERA+ in 542 games. Since then, he has a 3.94 mark in 323 games.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted May 23 Posted May 23 We need Tong to pitch better with the Mets than he has thus far this season for Syracuse. He has a 2-3 records in 9 starts and 38 innings for Syracuse. He has 55 K's which is great, but 24 walks is not so good. He is sporting a 5.68 ERA and 1.368 WHIP while allowing 1.9 HR/9 IP. Hopefully, he finds command during his time with the Mets.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted May 23 Posted May 23 If Tong is going to start games, it is a very head-scratching move that this roster transaction happened today. Sure, Kimbrel’s not good, but if today’s game goes into extras and the Mets are a pitcher short… Or is Tong going to be a reliever?
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted May 26 Posted May 26 The Craig Kimbrel Era has ended, as he has elected free agency.
