Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 04:19 AM Posted Saturday at 04:19 AM 9:38 first pitch with Nolan McLean facing Reid Detmers (I promise this time). Y'see, I wasn't wrong, I just had the correct answers too early. whippoorwill 1
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 12:10 PM Posted Saturday at 12:10 PM I wish we were still playing the Angles. MFS62 1
whippoorwill Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 02:35 PM Posted Saturday at 02:35 PM They can beat all the angles MFS62 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Saturday at 04:25 PM Posted Saturday at 04:25 PM The Angles thought they had the game locked up last night in the fifth, but they were just being obtuse. OHHHHHH!
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 04:33 PM Posted Saturday at 04:33 PM I would really like to see McLean get through 6 strong innings. I just hope the offense will give him some support. I expect McLean to be good. The offense, not so much.

seawolf17 Old-Timey Member Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM Posted Saturday at 10:49 PM The worst outfield the Mets have ever put in a starting lineup? Perhaps. MFS62 and The Hot Corner 1 1

If they collectively get 2 hits and drive in a run they will have been more successful than what we have been running out there any game Soto isn't in LF.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM Posted yesterday at 02:31 AM I like that, if you are a Spanish speaker, and you are going to see the Angels, you tell people you are going to see, "Los Los Angeles Angeles."
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:48 AM Posted yesterday at 02:48 AM We're in the fifth inning, and no actual game comments. Stop having a life, people. The Mets are on.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM Torrens should be in the lineup tonight. It's his birthday, and he just got paid. Put him at first, Viento at third, and Bichette at short. Mauricio against lefties is a less-than-helpful deployment. Mets going to the pen crazy-early.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM Author Posted yesterday at 02:51 AM McLean in innings 1 & 4: 7 total baserunners, 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 BB, 1 WP, while going six up/six down in Innings 2 & 3 Maybe it's just my imagination but he seems to 'bunch' his baserunners so that he/the team give up an above average percentage of runs out of the small number of runners he allows. Tonight's game will push his season ERA to right around 3.00 with a WHIP at still under 1.0
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM Posted yesterday at 02:55 AM Semien has to learn from firstbasemen and keep his opposite foot on the bag.

I suspect that's from how a 2B normally sets-up for a DP turn: left foot on base so as to not get jostled by a sliding runner. The problem there was the throw.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:01 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:01 AM And since nobody else brought it up, I will: the Mets failure to challenge the first LAA run scored is a direct result of relying on your eye-in-the-sky to decide on challenge or not rather than on an instant reaction from someone on the bench. Clearly that run doesn't count if a challenge was issued. The Hot Corner 1

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:09 AM No, but that's where his muscle memory leads him and it shouldn't have been a 'stretch' play.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM Posted yesterday at 03:10 AM I always admired this early sixties Angels hat with the embroidered halo. It never really worked at all, but I appreciated the distinctive approach. So few teams take advantage of the real estate on top of the head in designing their look.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM Posted yesterday at 03:17 AM I hate teams playing from behind and first-pitch swinging, but ... two pitches and two hits in the seventh.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM Posted yesterday at 03:22 AM Goofy lineup getting it done!
Johnny Lunchbucket Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM Dare i say they look fun this inning
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM Posted yesterday at 03:24 AM The Mets should treat Ronny like a pitcher (a very fast pitcher) and bunt here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Posted yesterday at 03:25 AM Let's hear it for fast pitchers!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:27 AM The 'worst outfield ever' has 2 RBIs, two runs scored, and an outfield assists so far tonight thru six-plus innings.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:28 AM Posted yesterday at 03:28 AM Ronny's 12th career hit off a lefty, but only his fourth since 2023.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:29 AM Posted yesterday at 03:29 AM The bonus part is that they were trying to ride their starter hard and deep to keep their bullpen out of the game.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM Author Posted yesterday at 03:36 AM And Mauricio is out of the game. Jammed hand/wrist or something of that sort.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted yesterday at 03:37 AM Posted yesterday at 03:37 AM They could've burned one fewer bench player by having Andy Ibáñez come in and play third, but I suppose they only want him in there against lefties.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted yesterday at 03:43 AM Posted yesterday at 03:43 AM Why is McLean out after only 4 innings?
