Well that was the chance.

So it will end up being wasted gem, Dodgers walk off.

The Dodgers and Mets both used challenges during that Robert at bat in desperate hopes to steal one.  Neither one had a chance of being overturned.  Shows how big that at bat was.

Yeah, Ronnie's notion that, in certain circumstances, taking a shot on hope is worthwhile has a flaw — the machine doesn't care how much you want it.

Two consecutive ABS challenges that were much more hope than belief.

The one to challenge was the first pitch of that AB.

I didn't even realize that one was called a strike and Gary didn't seem to either.

If they’re going to win, this would break the 0-500 when trailing at the end of 8 streak.

Should've gone straight to Williams.

On the other hand, hot, dirty left-on-left action is what you want.

If Baty comes up against this palooka, do you send up Pham, Taylor, or Torrens to hit for him?

There’s no shame in the Mets losing this 2-1.  The Dodgers are a significantly better team.

It’s the losses to St. Louis (not even trying to have a good team this year), Sacramento, and Arizona that are so maddening, because those aren’t good teams.

Did Bichette get a strike in that trip?

Gosh, did anybody see a strike?

Didn't even come close to making that 9th inning interesting.

The Dodgers notched three hits and three walks (plus one IW) but they twice paired a walk and a hit to score a run. The Mets, far too often, do the one baserunner per inning thing (when they're even getting baserunners at all).

That was as pathetic an offensive effort as I can remember. We scored a run. Which seems like an improvement.  But just nonstop no competitive ABs.

Unfortunately, neither are the Mets.

Well this sucks , reading the IGT it looks like McLean was great, but that offense didn't show up after the Lindor HR , losers of seven in a row

Well in my old age my bedtime is earlier now which fortunately has meant I was spared watching the past two games. I think Mendoza is hanging on by a thread.

The thing is, it was seeming like an improvement over the previous day's performance, in that there was something seeming more like effort and discipline on offense, if not performance ... and then that ninth inning was all, "Nah, bullshit, we just gonna mail it in."

Woke up at 2:14 and checked right away.
Someone soft and cute with pointy ears was digging a tunnel to China through my pillow inches from my face.

I think tonight they’ll win!

It's gonna be tough.  Apart from an unscored upon Ohtani, the Mets are likely to see Pham and Taylor in the outfield and maybe Torrens behind the dish.
