Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Mets try to avoid the sweep. Morale low. Outlook dismal. Hope hangs by a string. Brandon Glick 1
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Freddie Peralta [3 G; 1-0; 4.80; 1.13 WHIP] faces (RH)Aaron Civale [2 G; 1-0; 2.70; 1.10 WHIP]
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The Mets get one more chance to get their ship modestly righted before heading to the West Coast and facing the buzzsaw that is The Los Angeles Dodgers, losers of all of three games thus far in 2025. Opening Day starter Freddy Peralta heads to the bump, while the Athletics counter with Aaron Civale, traded mid-season each of the last three years, with a waiver claim thrown in there for good measure. Game time scheduled for 1:40.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Ummm, perhaps we can introduce you to the other 4/12 IGT currently located about a Hal-dozen posts below this one.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It's been gradually dawning on me that this team sucks.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 That and for me I feel very little if any connection to the team The Hot Corner 1
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 I haven't the desire to even watch now. I watched most of the games this season (with the exception of the late night starts in San Francisco), but after the the Arizona series I opted to take a break for my mental health. I will watch the final round of the Maters this afternoon. Far more relaxing and enjoyable.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Btw. Insane that the Mets are being sent out west again, and this time without an off-day.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 It feels like a continuation of last season Soto returning could generate runs They should have kept Alonso. His absence is hurting the team
MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 And to appreciate his homer , Alvarez isn’t catching today. This isn’t the first time. The manager is messing with him. later
Casey Stengel Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 they are not going anywhere as long as mendoza is the manager. plain and simple. he is clueless in ny and is in over his head. in addition, stearns buys cheap and hopes for miracles which may work in small markets where the expectations are set much lower than ny. cohen has to start evaluating his choice with a much stricter eye.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 So Keith is saying that Kurtz's (hitting) methods are ... unsound.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Jeff McNeil first-pitch swinging is classick Jeff McNeil.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 The A's again today are manufacturing grueling at bats They wore out Senga and are working on Peralta
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Nice work by Peralta to dance out of trouble ... but 45 pitches thru 2 is hardly ideal. It took him 101 just to get thru 4-2/3 in his last game.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Hey, we have got Clarke with two runners in scoring position! I missed that while folding laundry.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 Looks like another pathetic day for the offense. maybe we should try falling behind by 7

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Damn, McNeil doing McNeil things again is a thing of beauty. I mean, it would be if his uniform was the right color.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Civale's got about 12 or 13 in a row, it feels like. And another un-illustrated Lou Brock reference! What a rip-off!
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Thru 5 innings: Peralta = 88 pitches; Civale = 61 (or six innings worth vs a typical four innings)
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted April 12 Posted April 12 Peralta's breaking pitch the last two innings has been the best it has been all year. Sadly, as noted above, he piled up a lot of pitches before that.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Author Posted April 12 That Torrens AB is the first good AB I’ve seen.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted April 12 Posted April 12 And Peralta winds up out-lasting Civale (by one out). That didn't look like it would be the case for much of this game but, in fairness to Freddy, a big chunk of his pitch load was from that one (2nd) inning.
Zach Thornton Syracuse Mets - AAA LHP On Sunday, the southpaw tossed five shutout innings as the bulk pitcher. He gave up 2 hits, walked 2 and had 5 strikeouts. Explore Zach Thornton News >
