The Mets get one more chance to get their ship modestly righted before heading to the West Coast and facing the buzzsaw that is The Los Angeles Dodgers, losers of all of three games thus far in 2025.

Opening Day starter Freddy Peralta heads to the bump, while the Athletics counter with Aaron Civale, traded mid-season each of the last three years, with a waiver claim thrown in there for good measure.

Game time scheduled for 1:40.

Good for you.  I missed it.

I merged the two.

I haven't the desire to even watch now.  I watched most of the games this season (with the exception of the late night starts in San Francisco), but after the the Arizona series I opted to take a break for my mental health.

I will watch the final round of the Maters this afternoon.  Far more relaxing and enjoyable.

Btw. Insane that the Mets are being sent out west again, and this time without an off-day.

That and for me I feel very little if any connection to the team

Exatly.

I don't have a "feel" that these guys are my team.

It feels like a continuation of last season

Soto returning could generate runs

They should have kept Alonso. His absence

is hurting the team

And to appreciate his homer , Alvarez isn’t catching today.  This isn’t the first time. The manager is messing with him.

they are not going anywhere as long as mendoza is the manager. plain and simple. he is clueless in ny and is in over his head. in addition, stearns buys cheap and hopes for miracles which may work in small markets where the expectations are set much lower than ny. cohen has to start evaluating his choice with a much stricter eye.

Nice work by Peralta to dance out of trouble ... but 45 pitches thru 2 is hardly ideal.

It took him 101 just to get thru 4-2/3 in his last game.

Hey, we have got Clarke with two runners in scoring position!

I missed that while folding laundry.

Looks like another pathetic day for the offense.

maybe we should try falling behind by 7

Damn, McNeil doing McNeil things again is a thing of beauty.

I mean, it would be if his uniform was the right color.

Civale's got about 12 or 13 in a row, it feels like.

And another un-illustrated Lou Brock reference!  What a rip-off!

Peralta's breaking pitch the last two innings has been the best it has been all year.

Sadly, as noted above, he piled up a lot of pitches before that.

And Peralta winds up out-lasting Civale (by one out). That didn't look like it would be the case for much of this game but, in fairness to Freddy, a big chunk of his pitch load was from that one (2nd) inning.
