Better smelling armpits?

I noticed that Mets hitters no longer seem to be swatting away armpit odor after they reach base on a hit.

This makes me wonder if it was a thing promoted by one of the prominent recent departures. Nimmo? McNeil? Alonso? Which of them was a crusader against armpit odor?

I can't tell, I haven't seen enough of them reach safely on a hit yet.

The wafty armpit thing was more of 2024 move, I think.

The gesture was different last year.  They did a motor-hands followed by an up-yours kind of thing.

Last year you could tell they were just going through the motions. Nobody wanted to do anything, most of all Soto who to me comes off as a crashing bore as a player and deeply reserved as a person. 

I thought I saw a one handed basketball shot from someone this year but it probably won;t catch on given the guy with the most hits doesn't bother

I'm rooting that the 'armpit fart' becomes the official Mets celebratory gesture of 2026.  I'd also accept the Tommy Pham masturbation pantomime, though presumably there'd be more video editing to do in that case.
