I sent a message in April to the admin's personal email address, and never got a reply. 

I definitely gave the site to the wrong people. Unfortunate, but the shadow site that I've kept alive will remain indefinitely. Eliminating box scores, transactions, and minor league stats, and no longer keeping track of the movements of former Mets players who are still active, means that it's taking up very little of my time.

But I really would have liked to have been able to pass the torch and let someone else take over. I suppose I can still do that, but the UMDB name appears to be unrecoverable.

Sue them for breach of contract. Something about goodwill or good faith or something. I think that's a thing.

Nah. But I would definitely consider making the code and the data available to another interested party.

Call the relaunched classic "The All-Time Mets Database" and laugh at those fools all the the way to the bank.

Respectfully, if you can keep a version of yours up in some form, even in sparsely updated, I think that would be for the best. It's still one of the best Mets resources out there.
