Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I'm going to keep these to a few options at once, then we will move to another batch of questions. Please answer as many questions as you can. 1. Do we want a MiLB forum? All the other sites have them, and it's a useful forum, as we write a lot of minor-league content, and that's a good place to put it. But if the majority of you think no for now, we go with no. 2. There is a game recounts archive. Is this an okay place to use as storage for old game threads? We find that during the season, the team (Mets) forum is overrun with game threads. I can move those threads to that archive forum every morning, it's part of my daily tasks. 3. The fantasy league forum has posts, but I'm not sure if it's actually active. Is this active, and should we keep it? 4. There are a ton of empty forums (player of the game threads, mofo archive, et al). I can delete all those, yes?
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 If you convert the archive files into actual threads, most of those forums will no longer be empty. Brock Beauchamp 1

Ah yes! So I will keep all those forums for now, and we'll see what comes of the archive conversion.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 We do sometimes use the fantasy league page. I think we have two leagues currently running that involve our members. We just don’t really talk about it much in the offseason. Because we’re not monsters. hey, ottoneu draft is tonight. Kinda wish I’d’ve done my homework! Oh crap I think the other league drafts tonight too. Hope I do well off the waiver wire this year lol. Brock Beauchamp 1
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted March 15 Posted March 15 I would nominate, for continuity's sake, that the FORUMS tab at the top of the site be renamed to THE CRANE POOL FORUM. And perhaps "New York Mets Talk" can retain the original title "The Baseball Forum," but that may be an SEO thing, and maybe I just need to get used to it. Is there a place to search for active threads? I imagine there is, but my lazy-assed eyes have not spotted it yet. Also, I noticed by way of my own shameless potty mouth that the profanity filter is engaged. I can roll with that, and am beguiled by seeing my bad words rendered as "****," but the group may want to vote on that down the road.

We can't change the top navigation to "Crane Pool Forum", there isn't enough room on phones for that to fit. But I can certainly add it to the forum main page, I will add that to my list of tasks. 2. Yeah, that's an SEO thing. It will help that forum climb the rankings in the very-common search of "mets forum". 3. Yes, there's a whole subsection of the site that's highly customizable. It's called the activity feed, and I'll get a blog post up on it soon. Look for the newspaper icon near top right of all pages. 4. Ugh, I completely forgot to turn off the profanity filter, it's on by default. I assume you all want it back on? I can do that.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 Hell, if you don't turn off the profanity filter, half of Fman99's post will be *****. We will miss out on his profane wisdom. Don't ever change Fman, we love yoa.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted March 15 Author Posted March 15 Word filter scaled way, way back. Most common swear words will go through just fine.
metsmarathon Old-Timey Member Posted March 15 Posted March 15 fuck yeah! now the real challenge will be to find the ones that are still blocked!

Fman99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 16 Posted March 16 Did I see a prompt that there's a GCM app also available ? I dismissed a pop up and now I can't seem to find any info about it if it exists

The more sites we operate, the more feasible it becomes.
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted March 16 Posted March 16 IIRC, when we first started the CPF the words Yankee and Jeter were blocked as profanity.

I've never used this functionality before. It was bundled into our software package a little while ago, and I never got around to it. This is actually really nice. I'm going to write up a thing on it. Thanks for prompting me to finally use that feature! metirish 1
