Not on this list:

-Lee Mazzilli (possibly controversial take, from another thread: he just wasn’t very good; 15.3 career WAR)

-Jeromy Burnitz (just missed, 19.9 career WAR)

-Jeff Reardon, 18.6 WAR

-Cleon Jones, 18.0 WAR

-Hubie Brooks, 13.0 WAR

-Tim Foli, 5.7 WAR

Only 13 WAR for Isringhausen.

5 answers left: 4 that I would categorize as on the easier/more obvious side, and one that’s extremely hard.

Interesting that there would be an extremely hard one. I'd figure that any ballplayer with 20+ WAR isn't going to be obscure, and we'd know if he started out as a Met.

Mookie?

Good one.

Rick Reed was famously a replacement player before being a Met, but I think his regular season debut was with the Mets. So, Rick Reed.

On edit: wow. Had no memory of him having had an established career before being a Met, but he did.

Burnett is a great guess but he hadn't yet made the majors when the Mets traded him to Florida for Leiter.

Dotel is 15.2 WAR for the career.

Mookie is correct and one of the easier ones left on the board.

Reardon fell short of the list at 18.6 WAR. Jones did not begin his career as a Met.

Kevin Tapani was in my view the most difficult answer to get.

Stearns played in 783 major league games: exactly one game in Philadelphia before the remaining 782 with the Mets.

I was surprised that Willie Randolph had higher WAR than yogi Berra . (The other contest)
