Mendy's new gig

[Benjamin Grimm]

I just saw a report saying that Carlos Mendoza will be the new third base coach and infield instructor for the Phillies.

Just saw that , good for him

[Edgy MD]

I heard the Phils only offered it to him after Alex Cora pre-refused them.

[Centerfield]

I got sick of listening to him, but I wish him well.

I mean, I hope he sucks at his new job and the Phillies infield is a mess. But I wish him happiness and good luck in his garden and things like that.

The Phils jettisoned hitting coach Kevin Long (who still had time remaining on his contract) and a couple other coaches as well prior to hiring Mendoza. So the Phils' quota of former NYM coaches remains stable.

He'll be the greatest third base coach in history probably. Also a ready Interim Manager for when Mattingly inevitably gets whacked

News came out today that in addition to Cora, the Phillies also asked Raul Ibanez and Chase Utley if they wanted the job and both said no.  Not exactly a vote of confidence for Mattingly (even with his son in the front office).

So Cora is waiting for Andy Green to get fired?
