Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I've tried and I've tried but I'm still mystified. I can't do it anymore and I'm not satisfied. OK so they're forcing us to play tonight. No, it's not optional, it's on the schedule and stuff. But, after dealing away about 1/4 of the active roster this past weekend you might not even be able to tell all the players With a scorecard so the mystery of who is actually on the 26-man roster will presumably reveal itself over the next dozen hours or so. The Guardians, currently in 2nd place in the AL Central 3 games behind the ChiSox, pitch well (8th lowest RA/G) but score even less than the Mets (29th in RS/G) A pair of lefties match up in the opener as Sean Manaea and Joey Cantillo [23 starts, 3.88 ERA / 1.45 WHIP] will find a game ball sitting on their locker room stool when they arrive at the ballpark. As a side note on Cleveland's starters, five guys [Cantillo, Gavin Williams, Tanner Bibee, Slade Cecconi, and Parker Messick*] have started 112 of the team's 113 games this season. Seeing that makes me wonder what color the sky is in a world where that kind of thing happens. * btw, I'm thinking that not many of you had a lot of Tanners, Slades, Parkers, or Gavins as part of your grade school classrooms. Just a guess.

Look! Up in the sky. It's a bird. It's a plane. It is a signal in the shape of a Maryland Crab. It's the Edge-meister, come to save the day. We will know them when his official roster, complete with pictures, is posted. I can hardly wait. Later
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 I failed to mention in the opening post that today (and tomorrow) are 6:40 EDT starts and that Thursday's game goes off at 1:10 ... so plan your lives accordingly.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Author Posted August 4 New acquisition Jo Adell (he of the three HR-stealing game earlier this year) makes his Guardians debut after being part of yesterday's marketplace mayhem.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 I would like to see Ryan Clifford get called to play some 1B He may or may not be having a good stretch at Syracuse but let's get some Intel at the MLB level on him Maybe he can help thwart the push to 100 loses Not trying to be overly snarky as I do believe the Mets will be some where between 90-100 l's
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 My brother flew out to see a friend and is at the game He said he noticed a good number of Keith Hernandez jerseys as a Cleveland Indian in the crowd
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 Bichette no doubter makes it 4-0 for the whole are these guys in Mets unis.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted August 4 Posted August 4 We nearly missed that home run due to the stupid commercial playing. Bichette's hitting .293 since June 1.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Not a clean game, but they are sure playing a lot looser.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Torrens should have gotten two out of that hit. Then he'd be out there just needing a triple for his cycle.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Laura Albanese filling in on the radio. Asked Gary if she was the first woman to work a Mets broadcast. Gary answered that she wasn't, because way back in the day in 1993, he did a series in Houston with Suzyn Waldman filling in for Bob Murphy. "How did that go?" Keith asked. "It was interesting," answered Gary.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 NATE LAVENDER, welcome to the bigs! Rough to debut with the tying run at the plate, however.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Benge is doing everything right, establishing himself as a hitter and letting the power come.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted August 5 Posted August 5 NATE going back out there to face two righties and a switchie.
