Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted Monday at 03:33 PM Posted Monday at 03:33 PM Alright, so the Mets had a good series against the Braves. Can they keep the momentum rolling against a much-less-good Reds team? MFS62 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 08:12 PM Posted Monday at 08:12 PM The Reds have struggled badly at the plate in their recent stretch and just lost their fifth consecutive series. I hope their bats stay dormant until the Mets leave town. Later

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Monday at 09:28 PM Posted Monday at 09:28 PM De La Cruz was only 2-for-14 the last time these teams met, but he sure looked like an MVP.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 10:25 PM Posted Monday at 10:25 PM Toughest pitcher of the series tonight. Burns has only gone beyond 6 one time this year. So work the count, keep it close and hope to chase Burns early. Get it? Chase Burns?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 10:29 PM Posted Monday at 10:29 PM Reds had a real good March/April [20 - 11] but then started crashing as soon on the calendar went to May. They're 13 - 26 since and only the June portion can be blamed on not having Elly de la Cruz in the lineup. He's on the IL and hasn't played since April 30. Also Ke'Bryan Hayes and TJ Fried but neither of them was hitting like EdlC. On the pitching side Hunter Greene hasn't pitched all season. After some growing pains in his first two seasons Greene pitched well in both 2024 & '25 but never quite gets a full season. Since making his ML debut in April of '22 the #2 overall draft pick in 2017 has made 91 starts [24 + 22 + 26 + 19 + 0] for a total of just under 500 IP.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 10:43 PM Posted Monday at 10:43 PM Elly De La Cruz is on the IL with a hammy
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:30 PM Posted Monday at 11:30 PM Reds pull off the double steal. Seemed to surprise Alvarez who attempted to throw out the trail runner from his knees. The aggressiveness pays off with a run on a chopper to Baty at third. Can't give up much with Burns on the mound for the Reds.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:33 PM Posted Monday at 11:33 PM Struggling Reds offense puts up a 3 spot on Meyers (and still batting) after Saurez 2 run HR
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:34 PM Posted Monday at 11:34 PM My first time watching in about a week. Immediately greeted with an RBI groundout and 2 run HR. This team sucks. Walks are never good, but you can’t groove one to Suarez with a base open.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:39 PM Posted Monday at 11:39 PM Anyway. The Mets have lost their first two weekday games for the last three weeks. No reason to think tonight would be different.
Centerfield Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:46 PM Posted Monday at 11:46 PM Myers looks like shit. It’s crazy that Mets pitchers can look good then suddenly suck.

Already wondering how long before I give up and go read my book.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:59 PM Posted Monday at 11:59 PM This team sucks enormous, massive, nighmarishly large monkey balls. This is the true worst team money can buy.
The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted Monday at 11:59 PM Posted Monday at 11:59 PM Grand Slam by Suarez to make it 9-0. Good night all. I have better things to do with my time than watch this mess.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM Well, the Reds are going to be really embarrassed when they lose this one.
Benjamin Grimm Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM My first glance at the score and the Mets are down 9-0. They won't be part of my evening.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:00 AM 2nd inning, ok who pitches tonight??
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:07 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:07 AM Part of the Mets genius is keeping MJ Melendez around. Why? .204 average. .388 slugging. No speed. Yet he's still on the team. This is like when they stuck with John Mayberry Jr. or Gary Matthews Jr. for longer one could understand. Yet here Melendez is still on the roster, striking out. Which he's done 40% of the time this year. Kevin Parada, Christian Arroyo and Jihwan Bae are all hitting better than .285 for Syracuse. Matt Rudick and Yonny Hernandez all have OBPs better than .360 for Syracuse. Any of those guys could be called up to replace Melendez and you wouldn't notice a difference. Or they might even do better. Yet Melendez is still here.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 12:16 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:16 AM I think you should probably start an MJ Melendez thread.
Marshmallowmilkshake Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:18 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:18 AM This is why this team can be infuriating. It seems like whenever they come off of something good, like the Braves series or the Subway Series, instead of building on that, they suck the wind right out of you.
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:20 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:20 AM Can't be arsed anymore, embarrassing to watch

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 12:30 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:30 AM Sean Manaea seems like a lovely guy with nothing to say.
Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 12:33 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:33 AM Baty chasing after the guy walks his way into a bloated situation is rough.

Edgy MD Site Manager Posted Tuesday at 12:48 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:48 AM Bloated with one out again. This time with Soto.
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted Tuesday at 12:51 AM Posted Tuesday at 12:51 AM I will say, Jared Young has been a wonderful surprise this year. He's the dark horse Met of 2026 so far, I'd say. Centerfield, The Hot Corner and whippoorwill 3
