Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 2025 Mets:4 guys with 25+ homers.2 guys with 115+ runs.2 guys with 100+ RBI.2 guys with 30+ steals. We had the league walks leader, doubles leader, stolen base leader, OBP leader and four All-Stars.And we got 83 wins and no playoffs.
kcmets Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Not sure if I'm sad, relieved, disgusted or just plum exhausted. Plenty of time to sort that out I guess....
Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I'm feeling a surprising amount of relief. Like I just wanted to get whatever the heck this season was over with so I can start looking forward to next season.

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Ronnie: "A must-win game 162, and they didn't even know who to give the ball to."A good and well-deserved dig.
Gwreck Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Author Posted September 28, 2025 One final strategic decision I didn't agree with: letting Mullins bat with the season on the line and Marte available on the bench.
ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 On some level I'm glad it's over

The Hot Corner Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Mets go down without a whimper. Well, a disappointing and underachieving season finally comes to an end.

Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 From May 30, 2024 thru June 12, 2025 the Mets went 112-64, a .636 win pct or a 103 Win paceFrom June 13 until the end of the season they went 38-55, a .408 win pct / that's a team on pace for a 66-96 year. And while it's obviously not the same team all through those two stretches, the core was similar only with Soto added and Senga added.

ashie62 Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 I watched Mendoza on the post gameIt sounded like he may have chewed out the teamI felt bad for him. He spoke like a guy very unsure about his future
metirish Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Chew them out after that game ? For what ?
Frayed Knot Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 (edited) The American Ryder Cup team just checked in and said, "Man those really Mets sucked this year!"I didn't watch a minute of it this year -- despite it being on the only course used by the professionals that I've actually played (twice). But after being down by like two touchdowns after Friday and Saturday's matches, USA mounted a furious comeback only to fall justa little bit short. Why the Euro teams always seem to do better in the pairs half of the tourney and the Americans the singles portionremains an unexplained mystery to me. But that's a topic for another thread, I suppose. I just brought up the topic so as to get the joke in. Edited September 28, 2025 by Guest

Cowtipper Old-Timey Member Posted September 28, 2025 Posted September 28, 2025 Can't blame him. He's a winner who wants to play on a winner.

Lefty Specialist Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Well of course he opts out. It'd be agent malpractice if he didh't. Too bad Frankie Montas won't opt out.
DocTee Old-Timey Member Posted September 29, 2025 Posted September 29, 2025 Yabbut....did he have to declare that within an hour of the season ending?
