With Billy Wagner set to join this club in August, thought I'd set up a quiz for the rest of the club as of the date of this post (Feb 6th 2025)

Looking at 21 different retired numbers, though two are a bit of a trick question, and 4 never actually played for the Mets (had two in mind, but then realized to be fair I should add 2 two others who either wore a Met uni or were integral to the organization when they were employed by the Mets)

Standard ‘pool trivia game applies with one guess per poster until updated post goes up.

Does Nolan Ryan count as 1 or 3?

He's retired by the Angels, Astros and Rangers.

Is Whitey Herzog, Cards, one of the people that never "played" for the Mets? And if so, why are you calling it a "Met Numerical Retirement "?

Of the first two I thought of who never played, there is one who never even donned a Met uniform, even for a nostalgic photo op. Though Herzog actually was a member of the major league coaching staff at one point during a season, I thought it was only fair to add him and another fellow to the ranks.

So is that a yes or a no?

So we're talking 21 total correct answers, including four who never technically played for the Mets?

And Herzog is a correct answer?

And the feller what never "donned a Met uniform ", would that be Jackie Robinson? Because if it is, I might shoot you.

Fuck me. Just remembered a 22nd name. Part of the tricky part that Alomar (answered by metirish) is included with.
